Hey Guys!

Does anyone know how to check their credit rating, if so what does it cost? Also how does the scoring system work, what would be a good score? Lastly is it true if you check your credit rating it lowers your score?

Thanks

Kavie

You can get a pretty extensive one done by Equifax online for about $22. Have to have a credit card to do it though.

Gives you FICO score and everything.

Equifax gives it out for free by snail mail.

They also offer a free one, however it's done through snail mail.

The higher the score, the more trushworthy you are, the less interest rate you get when you borrow.

My FICO dropped a bit when I applied all these store credit cards at the same time to buy stuff for the home to take advantge of huge inital discounts/promotional offers.

You have a 770? That means you have a really good credit rating, it's almost perfect infact.

770 is only average.

my bad.

I don't know why my credit rating is so shitty. I have a 670 or so. I've never had a late payment or anything.

Time. 15% of the score is based on length of your history.

7 inquieries in a year isn't alot. Your allowed about 1 a month, anymore is a lil too much, I guess the less the better. It's also due to the length and how long your credit history is.

How often do reports update? When I pulled up mine last year it said my VISA had a 1000 balance but I paid that off weeks before and it said I owed too much to cards. :nut:

The reports are random with different companies, some are a month like Rogers some are 2 or 3 months. Transcanadacredit is what I use and I pay extra for them sending me any notices, changes and updates on my credit.
