I always though of buying a pedal go kart and welding in some motor mounts for one of those 7 hp things from princess auto ( only like $150). Most highway side karts are supposed to be about 3.5 hp, so 7 would be alright. Some better brakes and other realatively minor mods and you could have yourself a time:thumbsup:

I'm doing something like that one a bigger scale. Scratch built Lotus Seven replica. Just starting and stripping the donor car right now. Welding up a chassis soon. End result should look similar. Probably be under $5K total. Here is a book that explains it link to book (http://www.amazon.ca/exec/obidos/ASIN/1859606369/daves1974triu-20/701-1180585-2553160) (can also get it from downtown and crowfoot libraries if interested.

I thought of it, Its in the the works. I was even thinking of a d-series hydrostatic lawntractor. So far we have a d-series running on JDM twin carbs. Technically we could drop this engine into a go cart frame..

Screw the engine, take the whole front end off of some junkyard FWD vehicle. Then you get a go-kart w/ IRS and a trans.

I'd go with a snowmobile engine personally
