I was just thinking of the ways we all blow money, was looking at some speakers onine that cost about $11k.

What is the most expensive purchase you made that was NOT a home, and was not a vehicle?

I think for me it was a Natuzzi couch, ~$3k. Lots of money, but worth every cent.

Maybe not the moxt expensive, but absolutely the most absurd.....dropping over $1k total into my remote control car :D

Goblin
01-07-2006, 04:03 PM
^ Haha so far I have (total) 1K too :D so thats 750 for car + everything else.

A plane? What kind? My guess is a 1980 172? maybe a 182, but who knows :dunno:

BlueGoblin
01-07-2006, 04:24 PM
^

Nah - 172's are way overpriced right now. A mid time (3-4000 hr TTSN 1000 hr SMOH) 1980 C-172 would be in the $75000+ range. There was a 1981 C-172 at Springbank about a year ago with a fresh 0-320 and some decent radios that had a $95k asking price. The old 172's with the 6 cylinder 0-300 and 145hp are in the $45-55k range, but some of them are pretty tired or came from the coast and have corrosion issues. That and they get carb ice at the drop of a hat.

The only 182's In the $50k range would be late 50's straght tails, no interior and a few thousand hours of dropping lawn darts (skydivers) behind them.

I ended getting me a Cherokee. Not as much utility or as good a short fielder as the 172, but it flies nice, has 4 seats, a fresh engine and a recent repaint/interior. I love the manual flaps too.

Awesome bike. Wish I could have afforded an RM ESTX70.

My most expensive purchase was this summer. My Rocky Mountain Element 50. ~2200$ with quite a bit of a discount to knock the price down.

heh, if r/c cars is the game, i spent close to $1500 building my TC3 a few years ago, sure it goes fast... but not nearly as fun as my ofna gt lx buggy. its a pretty hard machine to kill, and still goes like 40 mph with the .25cc i swaped in :O

lets hear it for 3HP @ 45,000 RPM of nitromethane burning insanity :P
