Having raced solo2 with the calgary sportscarclub, I think that it would be a great way to learn to race and car control. But if you are really serious then what you want to do is Solo 1 throught the sports car club. You need to sign up sooner rather than later as the limited spots fill fast. The difference between the two is speed and amount of seat time. In a typical solo2 event you drive for a total of 3-4mins and course marshall for atleast 1/2hr. The speeds are designed to keep the cars below 120km/h and the course is very short. Lots of turns, but short.
In solo one you drive 3-4 laps of the whole road course as fast as your car can go. No passing except on straights. So it is relativly safe. It is by far the best bargain in motorsports, when you compare seat time to dollars invested.

no more solo1 or solo2 at race city, only secret streets. That said, the autoX at secret streets is a good place to start racing

You've been? Is that the M5 training one for liek $3,400 or something?

I've been looking for something more advanced then what Calgary has to offer and saw the 18+ BMW courses out in BC, a little pricey but are they worth it?

I could be wrong, but there was a huge thread saying that nothing but SS would be run this year...
