If anyone sees a digital rebel XT with the 18-55mm lense for sale in a pawn shop somewhere could you please let me know. Someone stole mine out of my beater last night while I was having dinner, the serial number is 1120746834 and the one for the lense is 0820550584. When it was stolen it was in a Blue Lowepro camera case along with a lense filter and a couple of other goodies...

Anyone with information that leads to the return of it will recieve a no questions asked cash reward.

You can also contact me at 875-6225

Thanks for anyones help
Steve

That's fucking bullshit. I sure hope you get it back, I'll write down the serial and keep an eye out when I go camera shopping.

shittiest part was literally from the time I parked to the time I got back to the car was less than an hour...also stolen was a pair of $1300 roller skates(which probably just ended up getting tossed somewhere), I was out there till 11:00 last night looking through every dumpster in a 5 block radius just hoping to find the skates since they're a little harder to replace.

Sorry to hear this. If I were you, I would also keep an eye out on Ebay. I can't even imagine how many stolen items are sold here daily.

Just did a quick search, one for sale in Calgary, one in Airdrie, but the one in Calgary is from a dealer who selling hundreds of cameras and the one in Airdire doesn't have the same lense.

I really hope you find it. Best of luck to you.

Wow, that sucks bad.....I keep my camera in my car lots, and I guess I never considered it a target (seeing as only people who know what to look for in a camera bag are the only potential theifs?).....good luck, check to see if its covered under your homeowners insurance policy, I know mine is...

it was my girlfriends dad's van, so my insurance won't cover it, and it wasn't his stuff...so his won't cover it.
I have filed a police report including the serial numbers, now the only thing I can really hope for is that whoever stole it just turned it in to a pawn shop for some quick cash.

Rylake: rollerskates are expensive, and mine were pretty much top of the line. the bearings alone were $200, and the wheels were another $200.

House insurance should cover both items. It won't go under car insurance.

You don't have homeowners insurance??? We're saying your home policy (if you have one), not your car policy is supposed to cover this....

Go4Long

yes...and my home insurance won't cover it because it was in someone elses car.

It doesn't matter who's car it was in. If you have home insurance they will cover it as a theft of contents.

yup...thats what I was thinking....

I think of it this way, I owned it, someone took it (regardless from where), so the insurance I pay for is gonna cover it......Why would that be any different if you were on a road trip with a friend, not in your car? Theft is theft, and coverage is coverage....If your insurance company is denying this, you need to go up the line and talk with some supervisors or something....I wouldn't give up until they covered what they claim to....:thumbsdow to insurance companies....

Home insurance should cover it....
I've made a claim very similar to this in the past, and they put up no fight at all.

Recovered it today, thanks to everyone for keeping your eyes open.

It was pawned two days after it was stolen at a pawn shop on 16th ave NW. Then through the serial number it was traced and I got a call yesterday...

Couple scratches and what not, and the lense cap is missing:dunno: other than that, no worse for wear.

they left id...so we'll see...I think the pawn shop that bought it must have known it was gonna be stolen...they only gave him $350 for it

no one...it's part of the risk that a pawn shop takes. basically they are required to report everything they sell to the police, and are given specific guidelines on how they have to report things. That information is cross referenced against a canada wide database of stolen goods, if it turns up a stolen item that's been pawned the police simply call the pawn shop and tell them that they're coming to pick it up.
