I personally have dealt with omegacell, and i recommend highly. If anyone is concerned with dealing with OmegaCell don't be. I've personally bought about 50 phones from Omegacell over a 4 year span without any issues at all. Martin is a great guy to deal with.

Its about 75-85 for the 512mb. I dont believe anyone is making the 1gb yet mainly because most phones (specifically motorola) aren't compatible with any micromedia above 512mb....yet.

Rogers has included the 512mb t-flash with selected phones like the moto v635 so they should have it for sale for 80-100 bucks at the rogers stores.

Also this guy "x1387" on ebay has them in stock for just a little bit cheaper. He ships from HK but is very reliable, I've bought tens of thousands worth from him with no problems...here's the link:

http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-Sandisk-512MB-Transflash-MicroSD-Razr-V3i-Bulk_W0QQitemZ7580563356QQcategoryZ18871QQcmdZViewItem

i might also be able to get t-flash cards for cost + few %, my buddy works at a phone store, i can ask him how much i can get them for, i doubt i could buy a large quantity, but couple i probably could get. Let you guys know when i find out the prices.

what's the big difference between the L6 and the L7. is it really worth the $150 more?

edit: does the L6 really have quad band or is it like the e398 with the "fake" quadband

slick2404
01-12-2006, 05:42 PM
i have a w800 i have right now and will sell it if this phone is actually quad band and has a good mp3. someone let me know how good the sound quality is, or if its comparable to w800 other than the camera

j0nblayz
01-12-2006, 06:40 PM
the L7 is a Quadband, L6 is a TriBand but u can unlock 850mhz using a seem edit. 850mhz on the L6 unlocked has been tested on the 850mhz network and yes its not a fake quadband, it actually works on the 850mhz network. But if your getting the L7 you have no worries, it comes as quadband.

gpomp
01-12-2006, 06:55 PM
is there tax on top of the $400?

j0nblayz
01-13-2006, 11:11 AM
there is a goods & service tax, confirm with martin for the final tax price, i think its gonna be around $20 or so.

Not to piss on the thread, but I've been looking at the L7 for a while, and Hi-Mobile has them for 353 + shipping + customs, which ends up being around $410-410 CDN flat.. And that's per unit.

I'm not entirely sure how reputable they are, but they're listed on howardforums as a registered seller, so I'm assuming they're pretty solid.

Anyhow, maybe it'd be possible to approach them for a group buy?

http://www.hi-mobile.net/product_info.php?manufacturers_id=1&products_id=245

Edit: I guess the cable + headphone throw in and the lack of customs will probably even out the price, so maybe Omegacell vs Hi-Mobile is pretty even in the end.

Other than the quad-band/Triband, what other differences are there in the L7 and L6 to justify the price difference?

I believe the L7 has a larger screen, and has expandable memory whereas the L6 does not.

They are extremely reputable. I bought a samsung D600 from them. Shipped it Fedex and not UPS and marked down the price of the phone so I didn't pay as much for taxes.

Have seen the price as well and much better to go with hi mobile

From what I have read, I understand that the L6 cannot play mp3's like an mp3 player(only MP3's as ringtones), but the L7 can function as an mp3 player?

Stratus_Power
01-14-2006, 01:22 AM
so what kind of discount can u get on the L6

/////AMG
01-14-2006, 03:37 AM
-The L6 is show as tri-band (guess you guys say it can be unlocked)
-It has no memory slot.
-The L6 would be terrible for MP3 it only has like 10MB internal memory. I haven't tried putting MP3 on because I need to buy the USB lead and software separately!

-But I think the price dropped a shit load because the L7 came out. If it didn't it would probably be some what in the same price range.
I don't think it's worth it unless you plan on playing a lot of MP3's and need space for images and video clips.
It would definitely been worth it if it had a 1MP+ camera on it.

One thing I'm not sure about... are the materials different on the L6 and the L7?

j0nblayz
01-14-2006, 12:26 PM
yes, l7 has metal parts, like the keypad and battery cover and etc, l6 is all plastic. l7's keypad is like the v3.

Impreza
01-14-2006, 12:47 PM
What kind of discount on the L6? And the L7 can play MP3's through the headphones right?

j0nblayz
01-14-2006, 02:53 PM
ok guys, i just got the L7 from omegacell in the mail. Its charging right now, but i can confirm, that it comes with a 128mb tflash card, a stereo headphones which also works as a headset, and also a datacable/mobile phonetools. I'm not sure if this one comes with itunes or not since i haven't turned it on yet, still waiting it for to charge

Weapon_R
01-14-2006, 02:56 PM
The L6 can be edited to quadband, but its a POS. No expandable memory, no aluminum construction, and not a real MP3 phone. With the L7, you could pop in a larger mem card and put 70-100 songs on it.

Thats a damn good price. Ebay sellers are selling this phone for 340US + ship + duties, and you end up paying the same. Dealing with omega cell is cheaper and faster.

or just 400 flat?

let me know cause im real intrested.
let me know payment details ect and how the phone is for you how the mp3 modes are and such? where can i get upgraded memory slots btw? hmmm since this phone isn't released in n.america yet, is there a way i can get a belt clip/hoster thing?

j0nblayz
01-15-2006, 02:12 PM
ts gonna be $400 + Goods/Service Tax (around $20 or so). The phone comes a 128mb tflash card, currently i have about 10 songs encoded at 160kpbs, and about 8 high quality music videos. Earphones that comes with the pacakge sounds good, handles bass real well and you can also use it to talk on, which is kinda weird to talk to someone using both earphones, kinda like surround sound, heh. You can get a 512mb tflash card, which should hold alot more, i'm thinkin about pickin one up today from my friend, let you know how much i can get it for. still haven't found a nice holster/leather case yet, will let you know guys know when i do.

soon as possible to put the first order thru, we need 1 more person for the final 5 group buy. Payment process will be easy, after we have 5 users confirmed, which i will have to email each person to confirm they are still buying the L7, then after everyone is fully confirmed, i will let martin know the user names, each of the user will have to put the order thru the omegacell.com site. I'm guessing martin will give us a group code to use to get the $50 off discount. Phone should arrive next day.

Have you used the k750i? If you have, would you rather have the v3i or the k750? I want a flip phone.

nothing on the market compares to the k750 in terms of features. it has the best mp3 player, camera, and ui hands down...

mind you, i got rid of the k750 because i coundn't stand the cheap feel and shitty reception.

No 850mhz = shitty reception. Anyone who says otherwise is lying.

Once you use a metal phone, with quadband at that, you don't wanna go back.
I used to be a big SE fan. K750i, nothing compared. But I got my old man a black V3 for christmas, and I used it for a week, and that just kinda grew on me. Plus the notorious SE White Screen Of Death has not increased my loyalty to them.
Right now, the V3i would be most likely the best phone I've owned, not feature-wise though.
I don't use most of the features to the max, so for less than $500 a 256mb transflash card, 1.23mp camera, and a thin and quite sexy metal flip > all.
I never had a problem with reception using the K750i, it certainly doesn't compare to 850, but it wasn't bad. You just had to know where to be sometimes to get a better signal, especially if you were indoors.
