Well, we have the best sub thread.... and yes, I did a search for about 14 variations of "best" and "hamburger" (including abbreviations) and got a blank search result every time.... so how about a best burgers thread! :bigpimp:

Small family places as well as major chains count here, so everything from the guy on the corner of 7th ave and center st downtown that's there hell or high water, all the way up to McD's (if you don't vomit after eating one of their burgers).

For me, I would have to say that the best burgers I've EVER had are a close tie between a Peter's Drive-In double cheeseburger or the Inglewood Cafe's "The Inglewood." (for those wondering, this place is a TINY little building that's at the corner of the block one street north of 9th ave crossing the zoo bridge, incidentally in *gasp* INGLEWOOD O_O)

Alas, since going semi-health nut, I can't enjoy burgers as much anymore, so post away with your favorite places and burgers

Burgers in Calgary are terrible. I have yet to find a good burger ANYWHERE in this city. I find it odd considering Alberta is supposed to be full of beef but even the so-so burgers in Winnipeg are better than anything I have ever had in Calgary. Winnipeggers here might be familiar with the following places.

- Mrs Mikes (the KingBurger is the best burger in existance).
- George's (great "fatboy" burgers)
- Dairy Whip
- White Tower

I know it's not probably not even near the best burger, but god damn, I love those bacon mushroom swiss burgers from Wendy's when they have them.

You know, I SWEAR that whoever coded the search engine for this forum system was having multiple orgasms by rubbing himself with several squealing hamsters at once whilst trying to sing "I am the very model of a modern major general."

Haha! Did you notice the "Search entire posts" and "Search For Posts From..." at the bottom of the search page? It's cool, I'm just fucking around cause I don't want to get started with work yet.

Anyways, back to burger talk! Lunch is in just over 3 hours! Haha

I could really go for an Inglewood right now.... two patties slathered in yummy sauce (not THAT sauce, sickos), all the fixins, a butterschotch milkshake to have with it and those fucking awesome fries right from the deep fryer.... it's a heart attack on a plate, but I challenge anyone to have one and not say that it was beautiful

one place I am very keen to try someday is C&B Burger Hut at the strip mall on Northmount just before 14th St NW. Whenever I go by there, it's either closed or the staff have stepped out and I'm in a semi-hurry. Driving by tho, it does smell awesome :D Anyone had any C&B burgers?

And yes, they go really well with herb, just like in the movie.

I wish I could say I have had a terrific burger in Calgary. Peters tastes to me like meatloaf on a bun. Boogies...maybe with the original owners but I didn't find it very good.

I have been hearing the the burger bus was good. Dig up that address the family is going on a mission ...find a good burger.

I am from hick town ontario. We had a place called Chatham burgers, they were open until like 4 in the morning...best burger and shake I have ever had.

Thanks in advance.

I don't know how you guys can say Peter's Drive Inn burgers are good... Those things SUCK!!! It has to be the lowest grade beef you can get anywhere - it's like a meat "paste" similar to the meat balls in Chef Boyardee. :whipped: :whipped:

The best burger I've had in CGY is at Burger Inn

Fast food - Jack in the box hands down even tho its Us only.
The double 6$ burger which was like 7 bucks Was NUTS. Full pound of meat. tasted wicked.

Resturaunt/Pub - Dont remeber the name but I think the Delta hotel in Edmonton. The pub in there has half price burgers on Sats i believe. Its Amazing.

Honourable mention to Burger Inn.

My all time favorite burger that no longer exists for some reason: Smokey Bacon Burger from Wendys. Had one about 6 years ago. Never since :(

Fuddruckers was ok, and you could put that cheese from the pump all over your burger AND fries.

Earls and Cactus club have great burgers, but the best I've had locally in a long time is the Friday lunch special @Original Joes. JD Bacon Cheeseburger, it's amazing.

The best overall lately though, was in the diner at the Hard Rock casino in Vegas, 1/2 pund Bacon Cheeseburger cooked medium rare, amazing after 2 days of hardcore drinking....

To revive an old thread...

Went to the Diner Deluxe today at lunch (Edmonton Tr and 7th Ave NE - just had Boogies last week). Bought take out instead of eating in. Overall, looked nice and clean inside, it's "diner'ish" but with modern touches. Cute chick with glasses that works there. Anyway, had a cheddar bacon burger. Set me back just a little over $11.

They don't have fries, so that was a downer. Instead, you get "roasted" potato wedges, soup or salad (went with the wedges, would've preferred fries). As for the burger, the patty was really thick and juicy. Taste was a little bland. The only real good part was the HUGE chunk of pickle they give you on the side. That was the best part for sure.

I'd give the diner another try, but I won't be ordering a burger...

Had burger at the Cheesecake Cafe by Northland. About same price as above. The biggest problem I have with them is that they don't have pickles!!! What's a burger without pickles?!? Anyway, had the bacon/cheddar one time. It was pretty good. Had the peppercorn another time. I could see the peppercorns, but couldn't taste them. The lack of any sauce (they just kinda dabbed on some chipotle sauce) made it really dry.

As well, they seem to have more lax hiring practices (i.e. they don't seem to have the same hiring "policies" as Joey's or the Cactus Club) so scenery was only so-so. Overall, food wasn't bad, so I'd go back but it won't be a burger next time (get some freakin' pickles for crying out loud).

Went to Boogies Burgers on the weekend.

Personally I was unimpressed. $10 for a burger, onion rings and a drink and we waited for over a half an hour for it. I didnt mind at the time because "good things come to those who wait". But when I got it I wasnt terribly impressed. The bun is way bigger than the burger forcing me to eat a "bread sandwich" for the first few bites. The meat is also pretty flavourless and had it not been for the hot sauce, mustard and mayo the burger wouldnt have tasted like anything.

Food - 2.5/5
Ambience - 3/5
Value - 2/5

I am currently testing EVERY burger joint that people tell me to visit in search of the BEST burger in Calgary. Next stop is Rocky's Burger Bus.

Fat Burger is by far the best I have had in Calgary. Almost as good as my home-made burgers (ones where you start with the ground beef, add in onions, etc.). They also have the best shakes I have ever had.

Peters gets by on its name and history in the city. The food sucks and milkshakes are just okay.

Beh, just went there last week. The patty is thicker than my fist, and because of that, it doesn't have good bun coverage (small and thick vs. big and flat I guess).

I'll give you this: the meat is very fresh tasting. I don't think I've ever had a fresher patty. But that's about it. Everything else about the burger was just so-so. I think I'd rather eat at Harvey's or Wendy's. Plus they take a LONG time to cook your order (I guess that's good and bad in a way).

So what do people do when it's raining..?

The Hawaiian Burger at Burger Inn is the Shit

Its a 1/4lb'er loaded with ham, pinnaple, and swiss cheese. Plus I get it loaded with lettice, tomato, onions, mayo, relish, mustard, and pickles. And all this for 3.79. Add large fries for 2.00 and a hell of meal for under $6.

So good and messy. Everytime I have one I have to throw out the shirt I am wearing.

For me:

1) Blondie's (Winnipeg MB)

2) Burger Inn

3)----> insert most fast food joints minus McDs...that's not a burger. That's just some sort of meat-like matter.

Infinity (ie the WORST) - Fatburger. So gross. Way too greasy, not exceptional, stupid expensive, plus the wait....just awful awful AWFUL.

Yes. It's awful. Too fat, too expensive, not very good meat, too long a wait...nothing is right about it.

WHen your on Blackfoot, take the turn by Shaw GMC/Blackfoot Motorsports and drive all the way until you see the bus on your left hand side. It's on the Corner of Highfield Rd. by the farmer's market.

Peters cheese with a side of onion rings and a black berry shake.
