What kind of oil do you guys/girls use in your car?
On my civic i use castrol 10W30 and fram oil filter. On my Camaro i use mobil 1 10W30 with K&N oil filter.

Castrol ever since I started driving. Never had a problem yet.

I use the Canadian tire half synthetic and the autovalue brand oil filter. They are made better then the frams.. go to autovalue in crowfoot and they will show you the difference if you ask them to.

Fram oil filters = teh ghey.

I notice on my oil pressure gauge that with Fram filters, the oil pressure drops off after 1000km, whereas my Toyota Genuine filters don't do that at all.

Friends don't let friends use Fram filters. Lots of stories of them collapsing and I have seen pics of one on dsmtuners.com.

^ Good to know. I've considered switching to FRAM to save a couple bucks.

Lots of Mobil 1 users.

Yep, steer clear of fram.
90% of people will tell you that they haven't had any problems with them. Then 90% of people will expect their engines to only last 150,000 - 200,000km......
Stay away from fram. I have seen so many pictures of failed fram filters that I can't even count them.

I prefer to use OEM filter for any car. That way especially if you are under warranty and the engine suffers lubrication damage the stealership has one less excuse to deny warranty. That said I stuck in a K&N oil filter (I like the 1" nut on the end) in my first SRT-4 oil change w/Amsoil synthetic 5W-30.:nut:

I use whatever honda fills my car with (free oil and filter changes for 3 years).

But my jeep, i just buy the cheap shit at walmart. Its not a ferarri.

Honestly I'll probably go back to Mobil 1 and stick with it as it's cheaper. All oils even conventional oil with all the additives do a pretty good job these days protecting your engine. Changing your oil on a regular basis is more important than what oil you use IMO. I run my cars hard so I prefer the piece of mind that synthetic gives me but I also ran my Talon hard and used plain Castrol 10W-30 with nary a problem.

I always use OEM filters. Best way to go if you ask me. Otherwise, I'd go with NAPA gold or K&N if I had to make a second choice.

for your TDI the OEM is basically the cheapest filter you can get too. Even fram costs more than the OEM, I'm pretty sure the fram ones are made by Mann too (so not too shitty quality)

OEM Filter + Castrol Synthetic and 16000 KM Oil Change Intervals.

The most truth in the thread.

I use pennzoil synthetic cause I get it for cheap and it makes me feel warm inside saying that I use synthetic oil. On my truck i've used conventional and both run great.

In the Integra I use Mobil 1 5w30 and OEM filters. In the Volvo I use 10w30 and mann or OEM filters ($12 :banghead: )

Castrol GTX

Used to use Mobil 1 but when your engine drinks 4.4L in a week, it gets QUITE expensive. Switched Castrol on the Regal and bought castrol for the BMW right now. If I get it rebuilt then I will be using Synthetic.

Hmm, Fram, I was wondering why I noticed the oil pressure drop off a bit after a month or so. Time to pull that sucker out.

So, anyone know who manufactures the AutoValue filters?

edit: The "Parts Master" filters at AutoValue manufactured by Arvinmeritor are Purolator Premium Plus filters
