Hi

I have just moved from an 04 WRX to a 05 STI, and not a big fan of the wing. I have heard many different opinions on the topic of whether it is functional or just for looks. Anybody know anything for sure?

it is functional. Its funtion is to make it look like the car can fly.

haha, i seriously dont mind the wing, and im sure it has SOME sort of functionality.

Im not a huge fan of the new front though...

Why flame?

The number I put up has been published many times for the last 3 years.

haha. its been the subject of much heated debate on subaru forums over the years. its pretty well established by qualified people with fancy math that its functional, as well as those that have raced professionally with and without it.

that being said, your car isnt going to be unstable if you remove it or anything. lots of people do.

Yeah it is functional.
I read somewhere that someone did a test. they compared 2 STis one with the the big STi wing and the other with a WRX smaller wing.
They found the STi wing made the car more stable.

And besides subies are one of the few cars that looks good with a big factory spoiler.

To me that wing tells people that you could've bought a BMW but rather blow $50K on a Subaru.

Driving both on a regular basis, I would have to agree. Besides, the BMW costs $70K, not $50K.
