have 2 browsers open next time.

one watching the countdown which you keep refreshing, and one with your "enter bid" with the most you are wanting to spend. when there is oh i dunno 5-10 seconds left, depending on how much of a risk you want to take, press enter on your second browser window.

i have yet to lose with this method lol but then again i dont go on ebay that much.

unless you were already doing that, then, too bad.

DJ - I just did that for a whole box of new hockey cards. However, when I did that, my maximum bid fell short 2 dollars of the winning bid. It's happened with about 10 auctions today. I can't stop buying hockey cards, I'm trying to get the sidney crosby 05/06 UD rookie, and get it graded by beckett. Will be worth 1000 plus dollars once graded! :nut: :nut:

of course i cant win shit when ppl own me

Use a bid sniping program.

Saves money every time! NEVER bid in small increments days, hours or even minutes before the auction end cause some dumbass is just gonna re-raise his bid to beat you and then you do the same and so forth.

BTW, buying hockey cards is like crack cocaine. I highly DO NOT recomend it lol.

And your not buying those blaster boxes are you? Cause toy'r'us and walmart is selling them for $25. While on ebay there going for $50ish us funds. I cleared Toyrus and Walmart out a couple weeks ago and made a killing off reselling maybe 50 boxes on ebay lol. Scam!

Yep, everyone uses bid sniping programs now, its way better then sitting there bidding, waiting for the auction to end.

Or just enter your maximum bid. If you get outbid then who cares.

Otherwise if you're not careful and get into a bidding war, you could spend more than you expected. You can usually find the same item for cheaper if you wait anyway.

How does a bid sniping program work?

And what if the other guy is using a bid sniping program too?

A sniping program is programmed to bid your maximum amount at the time you set (usually 5-20 seconds before an auction ends). I ALWAYS use them on important items. If someone else is using one then whoever programs it to bid closer to the end of the auction is best.

I usually bid like way over the asking price in the last 10 seconds and usually win, because if you bid like 150 and the item is at 100, chances are you will win, unless other people bidding have their max bid at 160 or something.

hondafetish
01-18-2006, 11:11 AM
I'm one of those guys who bid at the last possible second.. I hate driving up the purchase price unnecessarily. Recently, someone tried to snake in under me with 18 seconds to go, but luckily I rebid with 1 second remaining and won the auction. When I checked my email later, the guy I bid against actually sent me an email. The email contained 1 word... cocksucker.

I just laughed my ass off that this guy took the auction seriously enough that he had to send an insult my way after he realized he lost.

That's just the way ebay works. You either learn how to manipulate the system or stand to lose your auctions.

I also hate it when people bid whenthere still fucking DAYS to go. Whats the point, if you want to win obviously you would like it cheaper, right? Well fuck, it seems not!

I'm pretty new to this forum. I collect hockey jerseys, mainly Mario Lemieux ones. I hate being outbid at the last second, almost as bad is when you have your max bid set and some douche comes along and raises the bid by like 5 bucks and then just leaves. What was the fuckin point of that? But since we're on the topic of Ebay and hockey memorabilia I've got some jerseys/accesories listed right now, particularly PITTSBURGH PENGUINS stuff. I got 2 very rare jerseys up for auction right now so feel free to check em out. Be sure to check out my other auctions!
my user ID is: sunjay_dutt
here's one of the jersey's on auction

Why would you bother to bid other than at the last seconds?

The only reason I could imagine you would bid early are:

1. Buy it now.
2. Nobody else would want what you are bidding on (how do you know this is the case?)
3. You are bidding so high, you will intimidate / discourage other people from bidding.
4. You are willing to get into a bidding war.

FWIW, the last dozen auctions I have won, have been within the last 1-5 seconds :)

Sniping is the only way to win.

But as stated, I have also gotten emails from other ebay members who are pissed. I don't understand what their ]problem is, b/c bidding at the last second is a smart tactic, that minimizes my costs, and they can do the same.

I have lost auctions to other people who have sniped, but that is the "risk" of an auction.

If you don't want the hassle of auctions, then just go to a store any buy there.

That's exactly what I do. Never fails, even beats the sniping programs. Speaking of which, I don't like having to give them my username/password. Call me paranoid but you never know who's on the other end.

Ebay is so easy.... only suckers bid before the last few seconds.... theres simply no reason NOT TO! I do the 3 window method.

1. Window 1 has the item, and i refresh it constantly watching the countdown
2. Window has my maximum bid, ready to press GO as soon as less then 10 seconds.
3. This window has my Meximum bid +1 or 2 dollars, IN CASE i get outbid and REEEEALLLy want it.

I wouldnt send him the money unless he can send you the product as soon as he gets the the. I got fucked over with that one but thankfully it was only on something worth like 30$. I sent him the payment then I got: out of the country then it was sick until it passed the time limit to complain and get my money back then I didnt hear anything from him.
