I dont know if anyone here is interested but we got this TV a couple days before Christmas, but we dont like the size of it and are looking to sell it.

We got an extremely good deal on it and would simply like to pass that deal along to the next person instead of going to the store to try and exchange it.

Its a 36" Sony Wega KV36HS420 TV. Mint condition, only a a bit over a month old. This TV is HDTV ready and has component and HDMI inputs. The tube is the same width as a 34" widescreen Wega, so you are getting the best of both worlds; great widescreen viewing plus full screen (not stretched) regular 4:3 viewing.

Sells on Sony Canada website for $1499, and at the Brick locally for $1499. We bought it for $998 (new, not floor demo) + the extended warranty for 5 years + enviro fee + GST = $1249

We would like to recoup the same $$ from the sale and let someone else enjoy this wicked TV.

Must p/up. Located in NW. Will provide receipt for warranty purposes, all manuals, remote, etc... no box, we had to destroy that to get it out.

PM or email @ [email protected] if interested.

So from Sony's site I take it this is HDTV compatible, but not widescreen? Strange.

Its 100% widescreen compatible. It will automatically detect widescreen input and stop scanning to the top and bottom area of the screen so all the output is only in the widescreen area. Increases the quality of HD (or any letterbox input) ... I think some other mfg's call it a special letterbox mode for 4:3 TV's.

Whatever it is, it works.... I dont have a HD DVD source but my DVD hooked up with Comp. Vid is amazing.

My Xbox with HD module is amazing too, the TV automatically detects the HD content and goes letterbox on 720p and 1080i games.

The advantage to having 4:3 is that for most people, 98% of their daily TV watching is still in standard 4:3 mode (cable, sat, etc...) so you can watch that stuff and the TV is much bigger and nothing is stretched or distorted.

Then when you want to watch DVD or HD content, the actual display area for that is the same size as the Wega 34" widescreen.

I'v got the non hd version of this tv and its stunning for everyday tv..friend even comented how cable tv looks so much better on mine instead of his 42" wega lcd (both just using svideo from a dct 2500). I bought it 10 months ago with 3 year warranty for 1200..if anyone wants mine for 800.00...I'll buy peiboys for what he's asking. I was thinking of buying an hd tv anyway and these 36 tubes have some of the nicest blacks and brites I have ever seen.

would offer 1070 (price plus gst) as i'd never have bought the warranty. Consider that a bonus for buying it used. Let me know.

Dig Double U, check your PM.

I am looking for the full purchase price. Its a great deal, and the warranty is good for credit at the back end if not used.

the website shows as hiscan... HS or something... is that the same as HDTV or some kind of a substitute?

Yes it is HDTV. HiScan is Sony's ~ism for it. Supports 1080i and either supports (or rescans) to 720p. Have used it in 1080i for supported xbox games and would NEVER go back. WOW.

BUMP

Checked with Visions and extended warranty is fully transferrable to new owner for no charge. If its not used in the 5 years, value of the warranty is good toward any purchase in store over $400.
