The team sucks

He has a recurring injury that obviously put him in a lot of pain.

And with him retiring they can afford to keep Fleury up for the whole season.

I am sure it would have been a different situation if the team was doing well and possibly making the playoffs.

Something obviously must be wrong if he isn't even going to play in the Olympics for his country. Players don't tend to retire a month before the Olympics.

Bah, they got Malone, its all good

I'm so sick of this crosby BS. He can afford to play for pitts for a bit, he still has alot to learn.

Well they just traded for Eric Cairns from Florida for a draft pick.

With young players like Malone, Crosby, Fleury, Malkin, Caron, Armstrong, and Ouellet, you would think that the team has a positive future ahead.

Even with Rico Fata

Patrick said the Penguins had no concerns about Palffy's health when the team signed him to a $13.5 million US, three-year contract in August. He was earning $3.5 million this season and was slated to make $5.5 million in 2006-07 and $4.5 million in 2007-08.

That's a lot of money to be giving up.

It could very well happen. Malkin was arguably one of the top 3 performers in the World Juniors. As for the addition of Cairns it's obvious the Pens needed someone to protect the kid. Hopefully this is a move that will help him maintain his composure and refrain from those retaliation penalties.

yup we sure did. he was our #1 pick in 1998, 6th overall. we picked him over guys like Mark Bell, Alex Tanguay, Robyn Regehr (Colorado), Simon Gagne, Milan Kraft, Jiri Fischer, and Scott Gomez.

:thumbsdow :thumbsdow To the old Flames scouts and draftpicks of the mid 90's.
