They sadi its something with the poilcy for 4 months. She got 395 from somewhere and divided it by 4 and it came out to 98 bucks which i have to pay. Does anyone know why? I am so confused I dont even make that much. Please HELP!

This is what I THINK you are saying...

I think your Mom pays her insurance quarterly. That's 4 times a year, so every 3 months. Her rate probably went up 395 per year to include you as an occasional driver. $395 per year / 4 quarterly payments = $98.75 that you will have to pay here every 3 months.

Do you think an insurance company will take the risk of insuring you for free? If you can't afford that you really shouldn't be driving.

heh, if you think that's bad, wait until you see how much you'll pay for gas and maintenance. I'm running ~$220/month @ ~28mpg in a b12 sentra. Of course my work is freakin' 30km away.

^^says who??

man go on your own insurance with your own car, then see how much it hurts.

I pay ~400$/month for insurance a lone on my car, nevermind maintenance and gas.

its costs lots of money to drive if you cant afford dont do it, its a lot cheaper to take the bus.

$400 is cheap for you as a part time driver. But actually it is quite a big jump in price. But it still better than thousands of dollars a year.
You're a new driver, your mum would have to pay more to have you as a named driver.

is pro-rated for your mom's insurance since it will be time for renewal in 4 months from what you are saying...
change in risk = your case -> additional driver = premium goes up!
is not bad compared to having it as your own policy.

oh ok i get it now this is only for 4 months the premium crap is 395 for 4 months. Then it will be 175 for 4 drivers under my moms name. Thats pretty good i guess what do u guys think?

Be glad for the insurance reforms, if not you could be paying much much more.

Are you working? If not, get a part time job and pay the difference if driving means that much to you. Or, ask your parents nicely, tell them you love them, you'll do good in school blah blah and maybe they'll pay for everything. :drama: :D

Hahaha, $50, that would be nice.
If you weren't prepared to pay for insurance, then why were your put on her policy?
Did the insurance company specify you had to?...
