I haven't searched cuz I'm way too lazy... But is this correct..

Soy = man boobs
Whey = hellfire cannons

And is soy an incomplete protein missing some essential amino acids? Or is it just as good as whey? :dunno:

How many guys on this forum use soy protien? Did you grow man boobs?

be careful with soy powder, I bought some on sale at London Drugs and had to give it away because it was only 60% protien and loaded full of carbs. There was a vegetarian woman at work that quickly took it off my hands.

I did a lot of research back when I used to take just protein powders and I found that whey protein was by far the way to go.

And about the man-boobs thing, I'd say it's not so much about the protein you are taking but rather the lazyness/inactivity of the user. If you up your protein intake and don't workout then you fat levels are going to increase, thus giving you the man-boobs.

Soy is a poor protein particularly for men.

Ok, thanks guys. Reason I'm asking is because I plan on making my own protein bars, since the store bought ones are so expensive and contain lots of sugars for their carbs. There was a recipe on Good Eats (food network show) for making your own bars, but it uses soy protein powder. I guess I could just substitute for whey powder though...

^ Sure can, here's the link..

I made them yesterday. They taste a kinda 'fruit-bread' like, but not unpleasant. Certainly a lot less sugary sweet than the store bought bars.

Each 2" square contains around 8~9 grams of protein, so you may want to eat 2 or 3 of them to match the levels found in the store bought ones. One batch makes 24 squares.
