SL55: 493 hp @ 6,100 rpm / 516 lb-ft @ 2,750 - 4,000 rpm
vs
XLR-V: 443 hp @ 6,400 rpm / 414 lb-ft @ 3,900 rpm

SL55: 8-piston front and 4-piston rear calipers with 14.2" perforated and internally ventilated front discs. 13.0" perforated and internally ventilated rear discs.
vs
XLR-V: 2-piston front, 1-piston rear calipers with 13.4" front and 13.0" rear cross drilled rotors

Thought I would post this since the new XLR-V is $90G u.s. now and only about $25G u.s. cheaper than an SL55.

That's an SL500, not an SL55. Missing badging, can't see the calipers and it's pchop which doesn't matter, just makes it harder to tell, but the bumper looks like the stock 500's, and the seats are missing the amg badging. Doesn't look like amg side skirts or rear bumper either but again that's a crappy picture, too dark. :dunno:

Real AMG 55.

And I'll take an SL55 anyday. Although, I'd prefer the 65. 738lb-ft of torque...

Haha when I first read the thread I thought it was a joke. After I read it, I realized that it actually was.

Common guys, a caddy over a benz? please

The thread title should be
"American quality vs. German Quality" :D

if the XLR had some kind of lip on the front, to make the chin look a little more agressive, i'd take the XLR-V over the SL55. i love the chiseled caddy looks.

i don't think it is supposed to be a amg though, notice the hp and torque numbers. its just a base sl55 :P

Sorry I can't tell if that's sarcasm or not. So in case you don't know, 55 = AMG and 65 = AMG when it comes to SL models, the 500 and 600 are your "regular" mercedes. There's no such thing as a SL55 that isn't an AMG.

Arrr thread hi-jack.... Speaking of SL600's, Hakkola, ever seen the teal colored car running around the SW? I see him parked at Crappy Tire on Macleod from time to time.... Freaking nice car.

Oh yeah, I'll take an SL55.

The teal one came into Hyatt once when I worked there. I've driven the XLR, SL55 and SL65...The choice is easy, SL55.

The MB looks like a woman's car.

XLR has a way better exterior. The SL55 has a way better interior.

I'd take the XLR... with the MB's interior.
