I have found a GMC typhoon in the US that I want to bring back up to Vancouver , but when I spoke to GM for a recall clearence letter they said you can't bring one of these into Canada, yet I have seen them here and one is for sale in the autotrader, does any one know what the story is?

Both the Syclone and the Typhoon were sold here.

check the DOT or customs website, I can't remember which, but they have a large list of acceptable and non acceptable vehicles....not only that, they are coming up on the 15year rule shortly

I didn't think they were technically sold here but some of course ended up here.

I phoned about one for sale in Innisfail a couple months back and the guy wanted 27k for it.

To echo what has been said, they weren't actually sold here but there are a few around. When they were new you could import them here so I would imagine the same rings true now.

There is a Canadian forum here that may assist :

I spoke with RIV and they said I needed a letter of compliance, and when I rang GM for one they said no they where not allowed in Canada, didn't meet CMVSS standards..

I told her I had seen them driving around and she said she didn't now how that could happen...

There must be same way to do it.

For $27,000 CAD you better be getting a truck in showroom condition.

Here are a bunch forsale out of the US primarily.

See my earlier post?

Click the link.

Go to the Canadian forum.

There appears to be a local who recently got one across.

It is possible.

wrooooooooong

turbocharged intercooled 4.3 with all wheel drive, and syclones have been known to dip into 12's from the factory ;)

from a standstill there isn't much that can touch them on the street.
