Pulled up at a light behind a white E46 M3 Convertible, with an E46 330i behind me. They are definately out for a spirited ride, and we all take off at full throttle, racing stop light to stop light.

I had no problem keeping up with the M3, except when I was an assclown and messed up my shifts. Since he had SMG, it was considerably easier for him (or at least that is my excuse) :).

As for the 330, he was probably about 10-20 car lengths behind most of the time, and scared me in the braking zones a couple times.

In any case, it was fun as hell.. two guys with really great attitudes.. made a run to the computer superstore to return a couple defective parts much more enjoyable :)

I think the E46 M3 convertible is a beautiful car, but it is way too heavy. I think that it should be lightened up considerably, or discontinued as an M Car.

Just my 2 cents.

Edit: Mistakenly typed 'E36M3 convertible' in the Subject line.

The things you see on the road we will not have the chance to witness in a place like Calgary but that's cool nonetheless:thumbsup:

I thought the 330 would be much closer to the E36M3? :dunno:

It is... as long as the 330 isn't an auto and is driven properly

I was just thinking, a supercharged 330 would be pretty deadly!!! Would it take out a E46M3? It should be pretty close on paper! hehe

A 330i would be reasonably close once at speed. Acceleration is very different though. Assuming he had a manual transmission, which he did, I think he was performing as expected. I don't have a stock M3, and my car should be significantly faster stock vs. stock.

Braking, though, there is no contest, even with the stock M3 brakes.
