i had a heater hose leak coolant all over my exhaust when i reved the engine

could this cause my exhaust to blow white smoke and it not be something else ie blown head gasket cause i just changed it

only happens when i rev the engine and its warm

basically what else can cause white smoke other than a headgasket

Not a whole lot. Did you properly torque the head when you installed the gasket?

ya but my torque wrench could have been off but thats all i can think of as to why it wouldnt but it was torqued fairly acuratly id say

i had to use a shitty 3/8 torque wrench because i couldnt find a 1/2 inch allen key socket to fit my other one

If your EXHAUST is white, it means there is water of some sort being combusted or vaporised, so i dont think coolant coming in contact with the OUTSIDE of the exhaust pipe could cause your exhaust to become white, unless its some new form of osmosis noone has heard of yet ;)

Sounds like water/coolant is getting into your exhaust another way, and i hate to say it, but there is a large chance its a leaky or blown head gasket.

sounds like your headgasket. is the car temp gauge going all the way up? a leaking headgasket can blow rad hoses.

Did you re-tourque your head after you ran it at full temp?

Very important thing to do.

Smell the exhaust. Are you certain it's coolant?

A heater hose couldn't cause your exhaust to exit the pipe with excessive amounts of steam.

Sounds like a headgasket, why dont you open your oil cap to see if there is any change in oil color (kinda milk brown) or open your radiator cap to see if there is oil there...

Please tell me you didn't blow another headgasket. At least your brother will learn from this experience and do his right.

out of about 12 headgasket jobs i have done, i have never ever re torqued headbolts/studs. never had 1 problem with any of them.

i would say buddys head needed refinishing if its still leaking, or if he reused his stock headbolts, that would do it also.

Why did the last head gasket blow?....
If it overheated, the head could be warped.

also possible that the head has a crack internally, did you get the head pressure tested?
