Hey, i bought two 300gb seagate hard drives for my server, and i should be fine just running one. My second one is for sale now, its still sealed in box and I have the invoice from tigerdirect @229.99

http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1271627&Tab=13&NoMapp=0

Im looking to get rid of it, $200obo, you can post here or PM me with an offer.

Alright those of you people checkin out MEMEX, remeber everything on there is OEM. No box, no UPC Code for warrenty, no cables. just the HD in a plastic wrapper.

uhhh, all you need is the serial number from the drive for warranty purposes, not the upc on the box

i am taking it this is an sata drive, not an ide drive?

According to the page he linked to it's a normal IDE HDD.

You get cabling, maybe some documentation, and some screws most likely. Like above, you just need the serial number for warranty purposes.

Maybe you should post the serial number so we can see when the warranty runs out.

Nevertheless, a good price for a new 300 gig HD, it's a shame its one IDE.

you also need a recipt for warranty, do you not?

npham

depends, usually when you buy a HD, the retailer takes care of that for you by sending in the serial so the warranty can start, or sometimes they give a few months worth of grace so the warranty starts on the month manufactured.

You have 5 years of warranty from seagate from the invoice date . If you don't have the receipt, I believe it's 5 years + 8 months from the manufacture date of the drive.

Memx is not oem, you do get a box and cables on most items.

I think my initial comment about the good price is wrong, I did a bit of looking around and well there are two stores, based in calgary, selling for 149.94 and 160.XX(non retail) you may want to adjust your price, I dont think many people care about the box it came in....

ricosuave

175 less the gst is ~160 anyway.

dont know if there is a warranty difference on seagate drives for oem vs retail ones, but i know for other manufacturers there is a big difference (1yr oem vs 3?)

anyway, bump for slick2404, he's not trying to make money on this...

Just checked...

As long as you have the serial # on the hard drive. it will tell you how long your warranty is...

like my seagate 200G hdd, I still have 4.5 years left on it..

I brought it from MemX as a OEM Drive...

OEM drives have the longer warranty these days. Most OEM drives are 3 or 5 years vs. 1 year on most retail drives.
