PC Racing Games - Give me some suggestions..

Well...this new section will be good for this question :D

I don't really have time to keep up with the latest stuff so I am just wondering if there are any good racing games that have come out in the last year..or two..or 3.
Not looking for Need For Speed as a suggestion...ricing out cars gets boring after about 2 minutes.

Just looking for games tht are fairly realistic when it comes to what you can/can't do (NFS = fakezor) and is FUN to play for hours on end.

I loved the TOCA series back in the day, has there been any games like this out lately?

Your suggestions will be appreciated.

i know u said not NFS... but NFS: Most wanted.. not so much riced out imports.. more of the good old exotics.. not sure if ur interested in that...

I spent allot of time playing NFS: High Stakes, endless hours, its a very old game which is exceptionally fun to play. Lots of aftermarket stuff too (wrong word perhaps? :) )

I have kind of fallen out of computer games lately so this is the best I can do for you lol. Perhaps try an old title called Viper Racing, very very realistic.

There used to be a game called Sports Cars GT that I really liked..

Big Red Racing was one of my favorite games.. but I don't think that game would run on the computers now though.

yeah Big Red Racing was crazy fun but thats HELLA old.
Does NFS: Highstakes work with XP? I remember having it and it wouldn't work (nfs.exe is not a valid win32 application). I used to love downloading modded cars in that game. Hella fun.
Those are a little bit tooo old though...looking for something more recent.

There isn't much man... You couldn't prolly find some EA Sports titles for NASCAR or F1... but as for NFS or GT4 type games.. there isn't much...

Most games these days are FPS or Role Playing

Did GTR ever come out? That demo really taught me I suck. :( I play CR Rally 05 I think, and NFS Most wanted (decent, didn't like the undergrounds).

Must have a wheel though.

yep, seen it in stock on all EB, Futureshops I've been to, iirc 49.99.

GT Legends is same as GTR but driving classic cars.

they are a pain to run though because of starforce

Grand Prix Legends (old but really hardcore)

Need for speed: Porsche Unleashed (old but fun light sim, not the ricer NFS #&^! IMO, physics better than NFS: High Stakes)

Interstate '76 - you'll thank me later, trust me, you will. It's a classic game. Do not try Interstate '82, it's newer but it's one of those sequels that sucks compared to the original (I'76).

- Driver (take this before Driver 2, and don't bother with Driver 3 a.k.a Driv3r)

Best racing game ever for PC MotorCity Online. however they killed it for Need for Speed Ricerground.

But yeah like said above not to many games. Seen a couiple drag games on the shelves like 6 months ago.. Could be good?

I had Viper racing when i waas in like gr 5 lol......... somewhat realistic but it sucked ass. + the airplane simulator was shit :thumbsdow

GTR pwns you all!! I wanted to make a GTR thread for people who have it, but I didn't think enough people played :(

GTR is great and GT:L is even better. Lots more mods for GTR though. I've got the DBR9, Maser Trofeo, M3GTR, TVR Cerbera, 917K and 917LH, some Ferrari 512s, GT40, an old Le Mans Alfa, Chaparral 2D, Williams F1 car, Audi R8, Pescarolo C60, all the Audi DTM cars, the Mini Challenge and the McLaren F1 Challenge (my favorite by FAR) plus some skins for the existing cars. Even more tracks, but I won't name them all... I don't even know them all. Le Mans, the Ring, Watkins Glen, Road Atlanta are some of them.

GTR= one of the best games I've ever played, had it 2 years and I play it almost daily. I would play it daily if I didn't have HW:D

We need a Beyond GTR session, I'm tired of pwning 962 kid to the point where it's not fair:D

I might add Live for Speed is the best drifting game, if you're into it. I love it:bigpimp:

out of the list above i'd say nfs high stakes was probably the most fun racing game ive ever played for hours on end.

the viper racing one gets boring real quick.

never tried nfs porshe unleashed...assuming it was good too

me and mike have been through it and decided GT:L is way way better :D best racing game I have ever played, probably same AI and realism as GTR, but I like the cars a lot more.

Live for Speed...have you pay for the full game but demo is still fun...can customize so many different settings of the car ...not looks and styling but engine mods shift points etc. Really realistic game and the drifting never gets boring

GTR is the one and only mother of all sims.. As stated above we really need to have a Beyond GTR game. Starforce has not been a problem for me at all.

there is a demo at http://www.gt-legends.com/demo_en.php ...get it from Gamer's Hell it is a very fast server. It comes out February 6, its been out in Europe for awhile now... I am totally buyin it as soon as I see a copy.

GT:L is meh as it only has one Ferrari and I haven't been able to see how it looks or sounds yet!

GTR2 comes out this summer, and with a new publisher so it'll actually get released here on time!:D

NFS: Most Wanted..

Wow... Picked it up last night, and for some reason I am completely addicted to it.. I ended up playing from about 8pm-230am lastnight..:rofl:

Its not quite as lame as Underground, and has the similarity of High Stakes / Hot Pursuit!! :thumbsup:

^^^ For starcraft type games try Cossaks European wars. Its set in like that 1800's and you build up army's and villages just as you would in Starcraft.

For racing games i would suggest Need For Speed most wanted it is a pretty fun game... but i mean 60 bucks for the black edition... dam games are getting expensive these days.

I dig NFW Most watned big time...I mean I can't get enough of it. But since you weren't keen on NFS...not even the MW...I remembered the PC version of MX vs ATV.

They released it last month. I don't have it but I have seen the PS2 version. I read a good number of reviews on this one and one site I can suggest for searching reviews is iNods.com. Mabbe this is the game you will Dig!

the TOCA series is quite stellar, along with a lesser known game GTR.

For arcade style racing, NFS:MW is what I've been playing, but I mostly stick to PS2 games when it comes to racing.

Nascar Racing 2003 by Papyrus (Sierra). Its out of print now and costs a ton to buy online (often $100+ US). If you stumble upon a cheap copy you may want to buy it just to sell it.

Anyway it is by far the best Nascar game (if you like that stuff). There is a fairly large community which keeps the cars updated for the new season etc. It is reaching the end of its usefulness though as Nascar changes in ways that cant be modded.

Hopefully EA will get in gear and actually make a good Nascar game to replace it, as opposed to the crap they have been putting out. (Nascar Sim Racing is still inferior).
