There are very few FWD (Stock) cars that can hang with S2000s, M3s, and porshe boxters. They would be, in order of probally best handling, the MSP/MP3, Spec V, SVT Focus (maybe tied with the spec, but the no LSD puts it at a disadvantage), and the New Mini.

Someone didn't do his homework either. A new Mini keeping up with an S2k?? Correct me if I'm wrong, but they only have a 160hp stock S/C.

WRX was doing four wheel drifts to keep up. I have driven the WRX and in stock form it is a sorry performer in the turns. My old name on the board was Grantlax. I have Koni sports, Intrax springs, TRD front and rear suspension braces, 16 x7.5 inch wheels with 205/40/16 z rated Dunlops. There are not many cars that handle as well as my little Echo. My Echo in some situations handles better than my Boxster.

I realize this thread is about a year old but there's no excuse for this kind of behaviour.

So there's a few young guys/gals with there first car. They are proud to have that car and in their eyes it is the best thing since sliced bread.

No they don't have the chinwha to go out and buy BMW'$, Subaru WRX'$ and the like but in the future they will.

So hey...how about laying off and just enjoy the humor for what it is.

If you're wondering...yes I have a Echo..a 2004 HB 5 speed...and they do have zip even when compared to my Z71.

Well do the math on this:
1975lbs/55hp = 36 lbs per hp:burnout:

Can you see where I'm coming from now when I say this car has zip? Also for these young pups who claim they all have rockets...well in there eyes or seat of there pants...they do compared to some of their parents cars.

I made a list of LBS-HP.

2004 Ford Taurus - 3306/155 = 22
2004 Toyota Camry - 3142/157 = 20
2004 Pontiac Sunfire - 2771/140 = 20
2004 Honda Civic DX - 2500/115 = 21
as for your 1.6EL..If unmodded 2473/127 = 19.5 hmmm

I could keep going but I'm not.

i don't really want to get in an argument here, but what car has 1975 lbs w/ 55 hp, and why are you telling us about it. and why are you showing us the lb/hp ratio of boring slow cars? sure it might have a better ratio than a civic dx or a sunfire, but who cares, those are slow cars too.

dude what next kia's :D

swift thing pretty funny but those cars super light, so that might work.

but who in their right mind would want to mod an echo?

on another note, wasn't the motor trend car of the year, the Toyota Prius.

My old Firefly was 1975lbs with 55 hp. It had a 1 litre 3 cylinder. Even those had mods. If I remember there was a Swift/Firefly with outrageous hp.

Anyway I'm not dropping to your level and start arguing about cars. You drive what you wanna drive...and I'll drive what I wanna drive. If we all drive the same shit...well there'll be a lot of Hondas and Acuras on the road then won't there.

Here...drool over this.

just because somone has an echo means they cant be a car enthusiast? makes no sense to me...

i think people should be able to drive whatever they want to drive and still be a car enthusiast.

there has also been rumours if im not mistaken of TRD actually coming out with turbos and s/c's for this car...

Hmm at the same time I realize you may be a fan of a particular car phucheweasswhol, you should realize there will be people who don't share your enthusiasm.

Like whatever car you want to like, but its not necessary to try to win anyone over. Its just going to turn into an arguement over something that's not important anyways. You like what you like, other people will have different tastes.

Look at my car - about half the members here hate PT Cruisers and that's fine. I didn't buy the car for them though ;) :D

Take care and enjoy your car, and your stay here. But give up the need to convert people - its a car not a religion

bigboom
02-27-2004, 01:14 PM
ive given up on trying to get people to see my views because its all about what you believe. personally i think there is a little thing on every car out there that i like. im not saying that i would buy every car out there but i wont hate someone for driving a j-body and tell them they are idiots for modding one out. its not my first choice of car but you better believe if i had to buy something in that price range id be looking at a j-body.

it disturbs me that some people think there are only certain cars that allow you to be a car enthusiast. why is everyone such a bigot when it comes to this stuff? but then again everyone is entitled to their own opinion as well so let them be and let them express their opinion while you express yours.

why cant we all just get along?

Ya know what..I would enjoy my stay here if most members were like you 1badPT. But the fact of the matter is, after reading some other threads, that any time someone comes on for help...it always ends in a name calling match.

Like the thread with a girl with a problem with smelly exhaust. Right away it started out with shitting on her car then shitting on her because shes's a girl and not having a right to drive a car.

I never came in here to try and convert others over to driving something I drive...if it was up to me...I would want to drive no one else has. As for me posting a pic of a car I think is nice is not trying to convert...just trying to let some of the ignorant people in here see that there are other cars in the world that in my opinion look good.

I had an echo as a rental once, it was sooo slow, Im not sure where the amazing handling claims come from because any of my cars which are all 13 years or olders would run circles around that thing. It was great on gas however but why why do they put the gauge cluster in the middle? The car is an econobox and nothing more...and these words are coming from a guy who loves Toyotas

This is such a sad argument that we see here all the time... I see it on other boards too. If it isn't a Honda, it isn't worth modding... lol

It is ok to put a turbo in a Honda, lower it and slap some rims and a body kit on, but it isn't cool to do the same to most other econoboxes out there. Why? I don't understand it either.

Why don't people mod the Corrolas? It is the same type of car as a Civic, no?

but really, :whocares:

everybody has different tastes

every car can be made fast, i proved this when i posted videos of the 12 second saturn.

personally i think the echos are butt ugly, but thats my opinion. 95% of people here think my saturns butt ugly. if we all agreed on everything this world would be boring.

Hey,

I like Echo's man, especially the new HB ones.

If people rice up and are so proud of their shitty Civics, then why not a decent car like the Echo?

It's cheaper, looks 100x better, it's tiny, car of the year, etc etc.

Plus who wants to be a part of HOMO? (Honda Motorsports)
