Wow ... that's pretty awesome. Love how the owner was worried that Lotus would mess up the looks of it. Russian tractor engine! LMAO! You got to love the initial test drive with the wobbly hubs.

My father told me that he test drove a Lada in the 70's and it broke down on him during the test.

Pimp My Ride has done other things to cars besides just cosmetics. They did that one Civic with the engine swap, or rebuild, or whatever it was. Then there was that time they replaced the kid's 2-in-1-welded car with the Scion xB.

But you're right on one thing though, I doubt they'd ever spend that kinda money on just one car!

yea i kno there was more work done than that,

Rebuild, my ass. They said it was a rebuild, but in reality, they painted the intake and the valve cover. That was the extent of the rebuild. Rumor has it the engine stalled out while the owner was driving his newly-riced Civic out of the shop. :nut:

That was awesome.

The Lada was an easy build though compared to something like a Zaprozhets (27hp rear engined v4. Horrible. Horrible. I drove one in Kiev years ago). There was a joke that its owner told me; There is no radio, but that is no problem. When you drive, your knees cover your ears. It must have been in the brochure or something because the wikipedia site on the Zap repeats a version of it.

This Lotus built Lada reminds me a bit of the Volga V12 project www.vrus.net/Volga%20V12%20Coupe.htm

Russian cars...well, they don't rock, they suck, but not in the same sad way that Cavaliers suck.
