Ok well my gf got a ticket and she said it was while she drove past a construction zone, but i dont think so?

on the ticket is says speed limit = 100..and she was going 160...
it was one of those pink tickets...she has to appear in court and there was no fine on the ticket...

How bad is this, what will happen in court, is there anything she should do before hand.

Any help will be appreciated. Thanks

Doesnt 60 over mean court appearance and suspension of licence?
Im sure u could somehow fight it tho.. gonna be a costly ticket but im sure she can still keep her drivers

i don't think it was in a construction zone..it wouldn't say speedlimit was 100 if it was....well i've never seen a construction zone that your allowed to go 100... it would have probably said 50-60 speed limit if it was

What will happen in court will be influenced by her driving record.

I have seen a wide variety of punishments meted out for an offense in this range, some of them quite severe (in one case, bring-your-toothbrush severe, but that's extremely rare and had some extenuating circumstances).

She would likely do well to seek some compenent legal representation on this - either a traffic ticket defense specialist who knows what they are doing, or a lawyer who has actually read the TSA.

She got the ticket for going 60 over the limit - not because it was a construction zone.

It sounds like your GF really needs to focus more on learning to drive before she hurts someone else, or herself.

A pink ticket - is a Part 2 _ Summons. Which means if she fails to attend a warrant will be issued.

Generally 50 overs are 30 day suspensions and $1500 fines. Sometimes they agree to no suspension.

Holy sheeeit batman.
Well, the thread that is stickied at the top should tell you all about what a pink ticket is, but I haven't read it, so I can't say that for sure.

What I can say, is that a thread like this still comes up every week or two, and the answer will always be the same.
First 5 or 6 people tell you that she has to go to court for a pink ticket, then it slowly turns into a lecture about how fast they she was going, and eventually into a flame war....
You might want to stop reading this post soon.

Anyhoo, like already said, mandantory court appearance, and it's going to be big fines. If she drives like that, I can't imagine this is her first ticket. However, the punishment for this might wake her up, and make her drive reasonably before she takes herself/somebody else out of this world.

Best of luck with this, because the punishment is going to hurt. 60 over is very serious.

yeah, she is in for some serious trouble. 51+ kph over the speed limit is an automatic court appearance. At this point your gf is going to need a good lawyer, because if I remember right, if convicted, you loose your licence automatically.

and sorry to sound harsh, but for doing that kind of speed, she deserves whatever she gets.

Well, most relevent thing right now....

how fast was she really going, and was it radar, laser, clocked? etc...

clocked....pretty close to 160 im guessing cause it didnt seem like she was pissed about what the cop wrote...

*note to self* dont fly down Deerfoot, 16th Ave, Canyon Meadows or Andersen anymore

No problem.... fight it if its clocked. Talk to her privately on her actual speed.

A cop doing 200 to catch a 160 speeder is excessive and frowned upon.

Then as I always reccomend, ask for disclosure, read the cops notes carefully.

You are gonna have to hurt his credibility and challenge his memory in court... ask questions NOT written in his notes etc.

Stop posting here for now....
