Ok, so I want to buy some new subs, and I'm not sure whether I should go for 10" or 12". What exactly is the difference between the two besides the size?

10 has more punch, 12 generally has a lower frequency response, depending on speaker. 10's will give you a tighter sound, 12's have a little less punch, but make up for it in thicker bass. All depends on what kind of music you listen too.

If you listen to mostly rock, or anything like that, 10's or a 10 is usually the way to go. For hiphop, rap, and crap like that, 12's are generally your best bet.

subs dont generally come in 11"

go for 12"s if ur looking for low end bass good for rap/bassy songs....10"s are good too but more for short responsive bass, u end up loosing the rumbly powerful seat shaking bass that 12's can create, but in exchange u get tighter sound that can also reproduce some higher bass because the cone is smaller

also alot of it depends on what type of sub ur going for....

i think the main thing you should be thinkn about is the fact that 2 12's vs 2 10's is the difference in how much air is displaced everytime there is bass...the 2 12's will obviously blow the 10s away on that end....if it were up to me i'd go for the 12's if i had the space to do it....only reason i downgraded to two 10's was cuz of the space requirements of 2 12's in my trunk.

well could I go with 2 10" and 1 12" to get the seat shaking bass, for rap songs but as well get the responsive bass for rock and stuff like that? or would that be too much bass?

Don't mix subs sizes, it just not the way to go. Do 12's in a sealed box and you should be fine.

Go with a good tight sounding set of 12's like the MTX 7500. They will perform good for the rock, and also hit it when you need to listen to rap.
