I've got a Sony 505 which plays discs, but will not record. Looked into this and there's a ribbon which is most likely tweaked. I know you can buy them and install with the know how. Selling the player for $10.00

forgot, the player also comes with a nimh nickel metal hydride battery which is rechargeable through the player and ac adapter(included)
