View Full Version : Decisions.... Keep the 7 or Sell and Buy Caddy/Regal

Still undeicded but I have been offered a small sum to buy the 735 off of me which I could put towards this 87 Regal w/ 455 that I have wanted for awhile now then a Cadillac as a daily driver.

My problem being is I love the german refinement, love the the machine itself, it is a little on the slow side, only being 3.5L and chipped, wouldn't mind something larger. But at the same time its fully loaded, black w/ black leather *which I love* Comfy as hell.

The Caddy I'm looking at right now is a 94 Deville and I'd also be looking into STS's. The Regal as I said before is an 87 w/ 455 Olds Big Block, my old 85 w/ 350 SB Chev, I loved but I htink I would love this one anymore. I could dump a bunch of money into it right away but I would still need something for winter as once the snow hits *I know its coming* the Regal would be doing 360's ini the driveway, useless in the winter.

Yah they are both older, Caddy being a little newer but probably not as refined or lasts as long as the 7.

Caddy has 175,000km *Whole new set of things to replace, might still go look at it but I am not sure yet*

735 has 193,000miles (300,000kmish) *All i've done is water pump and now alternator, not bad, needs rear struts but meh, previous owner did a bunch of work to it as well, thing runs pretty damn good*

What do you guys think??

If I were you, I'd definitley want to keep the 7 Series (although I am a little partial to German cars). If you don't mind me asking, what were you offered for your 735iL?

I would keep the 7 , why get rid of something you are happy with. You know the history behind your BMW , you dont know all the history behind the other car.

Sell the 7 and get a Benz!!

It seems like you like the 7 more. But you want work to do.
It's 50/50.
I would personally keep the 7, you have everything you need, and the mods you want to do can be done without having it in the shop for a long time.

Maybe I'll sell the 7 and buy a 750iL and keep the speed/power/luxury.

I'd like a 300CE or 500SEL but they a little hard to find in my price range here.

I wouldn't go jap unless it was this 91 Civis shell then drop a b20 in right away with full roll cage and suspension and yuah ;), but thats not as comfy as the 7 :D.

One problem with the 7 right now, God damn alternator is expensive!!!!

Parts on the above mentioned cars are not going to be cheap as well. You want an older luxury car than you ahve to apy the luxury upkeep.

Pick something and stick with it, It will save you lots of cash and headaches if you only do it once. I cant imagine how much money could be spent on finding the right 10-15 year old BMW.

Very true. Well looks like I'll be keeping it, till I find a nice 750 from Japan with low KM's and have money to throw into it right away :D.

Anyone out their pro Caddy/Regal? I know Logan is!

Sell the 7 and out the money towards an E39 5 series.

Yes that would be nice but not feasible right now. Don't make that much. If I could get good enough credit once I'm 18 and get a loan fo rthe difference between the E39 and the 7 then it would be a sealed deal :D

lol 5k doesnt exactly make a dent in an e39 5 series....dont forget his car has 300K

All jokes aside, keep the BMW and stay away from the cracka-mobiles

5K can be a decent downpayment... Some earlier (97-98) E39's can be had as low as 16-20K. Never know what kind of deal you can snag...

Ever consider a 3 series? Or are they too small for your liking?

I know I can snag some E39's as low as 19 I've seen but that still means Im short a shitload :). Lots of people still holding onto them. By the time the 7 dies on me I shoudl be able to afford the E39 M5 I've alays wanted :D

My first BMW was an E34 535
I loved that car...cheap, fast, nice looking and easy to work on!

If ur young, the size of a 5 series would probaly suit your needs more?!?

AllGoNoShow
02-07-2006, 08:02 PM
meh I like big boats so size doesn't matter. Although fi someone had a 535 5spd and wanted to trade for a 735iL Auto then sure :P but most people wouldn't.

Elliot, yah I asked him, no he hasn't gotten back to me yet, hes been swamped. I'll ask someone he works with tomorrow when I go back to either give my core back or try something different alternator wise.

Yes I like the Lexus. I'm always looking at some of the VIp style cars that J-Spec can bring in and always points me in a good way towards Lexus and BMW and Benz ;)

The 7 Series all the way, you should keep it as long as you can esp since it has had allot of work done to it. Keep in mind that you probably don't have a huge amount of money to spend on repairs so knowing the history on your 7 is exceptionaly valuable.

If you were looking at a 500SEL would you want the W140?

I gotta say, Caddy STS's are brilliant cars, my friend has had a 1994 since new and never had a problem with it, and thats a true comfortable ride.
