yeah, they wont do anything unless theyre hooked up to a satellite dish. but, new customers get a free dish and free installation, so after buying the receivers you wont have to pay for anything else (besides a subscription)

no, dsr500. but there is no difference between the dsr500 and the dsr505 except the DVI port.

will this work with a non HDTV set?
i don't have a HDTV capable set yet, but will soon and if this works on both types then i may be interested

yes it will work fine. it will let you view the HDTV channels on a regular TV but they wont be in HD obviously.
