1991 VW passats

Can anyone give me a little bit of a review of these cars? I'm considering getting one but want to know what sort of problems if any I may encounter? Thanks guys

Reliable, if you can get past the quirks...some of golfs/jettas of that gen are rolling around with 300-400k, i cant imagine the passat to be much different.

I use to own a '91 Passat, Awesome car....when it worked, SOOOO many quirky electrical and transmission problems.....crashing it and writing it off actually turned out to be a blessing in disguise. Everyone i know who has owned a B3 Passat has had quite a few problems.

Did you have an auto or manual tranny? I heard the manuals hold up nicely but the autos are complete garbage. I'm fairly good with wiring so I'm sure if something came up, a diagram is all I need. Or are you talking about not the wiring but electrical devices crapping out?
