Not sure but maybe you can go to an antique shop or a museum or something and get them appraised.

You probally won't get too much for them. If I had to guess, at the VERY most, $0.50 a piece, but most likely, a lot less (I'm talkin the face value or double the face value).

i have every penny and nickle from 1918 to now.. and none of them are worth fuck all.

I also have a few of the really old 1800's pennys that the size of a loonie and one of them is worth like $8.

The best thing to do is dig a huge pit in your backyard, throw them in with some other junk, and let someone dig em up in 200 years.

In 1979 (I think) they only made something like 80,000 quaters, where as other years they make hundreds of thousands, I was told that a quatre from that year is worth something like $10-$12.

your penny is worth more in its copper weight value, then the value for how old it is (aka not much :P ) . The nickel is slightly better cause its made of silver (stopped in 64 i think). But still maybe 25 cents for the nickel, so unless you plan on adding it to coin collection in storage for like 80 years, might as well spend it :dunno:

I have a nickel from 1923 its worth $1.00 to the right people, if you find a nickel from 1922 its worth over $120, again to the right people. I can't understand buying a nickel for over $0.05 unless its made out of gold. :bigpimp:

I've heard quarters from 1983, 1991 are rare finds.

Most of the stuff you find in change isn't worth jack shit. 1991 was a lower mintage year for almost all coins, but it's still not worth a great deal. If you want to look for a needle in the haystack, try to find the 1973 quarter with the large bust of the queen on the obverse (same as '72 and prior). In '73 the quarters switched to the new smaller bust, but a few mules were produced and leaked out into circulation.

Also keep an eye out for the 1969 large date dime ;) You'll never find one, but if you did it would be worth thousands.

1948 was another good year for low mintage, but unless your coin is in the upper echelon of mintstate (MS-63 to MS-65+) it still won't be all that valuable.

I used to be wayyy to into this stuff...lol, it got pretty bad. I managed to acquire the finest known 1944 penny at the bargain price of $1000  among some other really nice pieces. I ended up liquidating most of my stuff to some rich ass stockbroker in Ontario :( It's great to search through your change, but it can become an all consuming obsession just like any other hobby.
