I didn't get my cheque yet either, but I haven't filed 04 taxes yet. I was waiting for my 05's, just to file them together. Earned $0 in 04, and only had tuition to declare, so no point. Nothing to get back, so no point to file, until these cheques came out... :)

I think there is a law that you have to file every year even if you didn't make any money. But I could be wrong.

You don't have to file every year. I remember watching CBC and there's this couple that havn't file for 5years. They finally did it and got $2000 back.

But what you have to be careful when you don't file. If Revenue Canada decided you owe them back taxes, you'll be fined and have to pay back the taxes + interests.

I havent got the prosperity cheque or any of the gst cheques either, the only thing I have gotten is the thing that tells me that I WILL get the gst cheques. Try calling both gst office and the number for prosperity cheques and they are always busy...anyone gotten through?:dunno: :thumbsdow

^^^ that is another reason to file if you don't make any money. GST rebate cheques.

When my fiance and I went to do taxes, on paper she made nothing in 2005, but she still had to file anyways, only cost $35, also because our address is the same we have no choice but to file common law,so if she wasn't there to file, I wouldn't be able to file either, plus we got back $1700, so it is worth it to declare your bf/gf on your taxes if you live together. I read in the paper that if you did your taxes after September 05 you won't get your cheque until March, the lady at the bank said many of the employees there haven't received theirs yet either.

If you owe them money, you have to pay something like 2%/month that you're late. I mostly completed them, found a $0 balance and decided to just hang on to them. Forgot about the GST cheques, which I have most certainly missed the last year. But, on the up side, I get the $400 cheque, and $280 in GST cheques + this year's refund... That will be nice.

If you didn't get your checks it probably went to one of those people in Manibtoia and Ontario that got them. Its true the news says that some people in 2 other provinces got them.

also, I was wondering if I had to file taxes for 2004 to get the cheque if was was under 18 during that time. I just turned 18 Oct 05 and havent had any income. I know people under 18 get their cheques with their mom, but since i turned 18 during october 2005, i think something may have been messed up. Any info regarding this?

alright, i didn't get mine either but did not do my taxes for 2004. but i talked to the people and they told me how i can do it. but what i don't get is how we have to have our tax's filed to get money that was promised to us. like my mom is pissed cause she hasn't been working for years and she didn't get a cheque, and neither did my brother and they are both pissed cause why would a child recieve the money when people over the age of 18 have to file there tax's. All i had to do was mail my tax's in too.

well personally i am pissed i didn't get mine, probably just because i could use the money and almost everyone i know got there's

ya when i called them they told me that i had to mail my social insurance number to winnepeg and request my 2004 t4. than after i file that, i have to wait for that to go through, than once that goes through i will get it. But at this point i just don't car because by the time i get it, i probably won't need it like how i do now.
