the subie sales guys say it MAY start at 44k. The car is in HIGH demand 2 cars per dealership with > than 10 people on a waiting list for each dealership. My guess is it may not go for less than 55k

What a machine the STi is.

Ya it's supposed to be listed at approx. 45k-50k, but I'm guessing with the demand people will be paying around 55k.

personally I have a feeling the release of the STi may drive the price of the '02 03' Wrx's down in which case I'd pick up one of those and drop the rest of your money into performance mods if I were you!

I heard on www.NASIOC.com that they will be $47K. Yah the 02's and 03's will go down in price, the new body style comes out for 04 so when they come out the 02 and 03 wil be cheaper. Plus alot of people are selling off parts for their WRX in hopes of buying an STI

I "heard" Centaur will be getting 8 altogether, and 4 have already paid their deposits.

I have a $1000 deposit down at the moment conditional on test driving the car.
I mean I DO need a winter car! HAHA:D

the dealer markup on the sti is going to be crazy. i wouldn't be surprised if its in the 55k-60k range.

We are safe from dealer markup...

Its against the law in Canada for dealers to markup.

They can however put every useless overpriced options on the cars driving the price up that way :(

Ive heard as low as $42k base price (calgary subaru GM), so who knows ;)

We're gonna see people who have just taken delivery turn around and sell it for more than MSRP. That'll go on for awhile until supply catches up.

However, dealers can mark over MSRP only if it's a used car.

About a month after the M3 convertibles were released here, a guy sold his back to the dealership for what he paid originally. Then Calgary BMW promptly lists it at $10k over MSRP! Iirc, it had about 3300 km... dude had fun for that month!

That is not true. When the Z8 got here it sold for 10's of thousand above the MSRP.

45K is a ripoff as it is, let alone the markup early on.

My mom has a 1999 Subaru Forester Limited, it has had no problems. Great small SUV...

WRX seats are great, it's interior isn't bad, the wheels it comes with are nice, not to mention the brakes, it's AWD, factory Turbo and this STi will be unreal.

hmm...the interior may not be the best compared to like bimmer er something, but i really dont see anything wrong with it....and the quality is EXCELLENT...i have a subaru outback with 237,000 tacked on to it and its still running pretty well. you get what you pay for.

It's not crap otherwise you wouldn't be comminting yourself to yours like you are. I have had my share of problems, but you win some and you lose some.

The 1999 JDM WRX was my dream car - I have a RS but it will do the trick :). The Subaru's are really robust. I think they are pretty tough for a Japanese car.

You get what you pay for and for a Subaru the money is in the AWD and engine performance... I like mine despite the cheap ass interior, but that isn't all that important to me.
