Hey guys,

I'm pretty new here and just got my MR2 from Japan. I haven't owned one before and am not sure what kind of tire/wheel sizes I can fit into a stock environment. As it stands right now it has 16" wheels, but I'm looking to go 17", or maybe even 18" if I can get away with it.

Anyone have recommendations on offsets, sizes, etc?

Thanks, and looking forward to spending more time here.

17 x 8 w/ 35 offset out front running 225/40/17
17 x 9.5 w/ 40 offset out back runnning 255/40/17 For the rear you may have to roll the quaters a bit if your car is lowered or you could run a streched tire on it.

I myself plan a running. 17 x 7 25 offset 205/40/17 and 17 x 9 35 offset 255/40/17 and will need to roll my quaters since I have tein springs

sorry, I'm not too familiar with the terminology "roll the quaters".. are you talking about adjusting the camber so that the tire is flat instead of on edge?

Thanks for all of your help. It's much appreciated.

He means roll the fender lips. Or else they will rub.

Tibor, you're crazy with that 265/40! even with a 255/40 you're gonn have to roll with those offsets.

Oh my bad, I dont even know where I got 265 from I meant 255. Yeah 265 would require cutting the rear quaters, or a whole shitload of rolling.

I'm running 17x7 front, adn a17x9 rear. only 245 on teh rear though. So I won't have to roll.

I was doing some shopping, and I found some wheels/tires that I am interested in. They're 18's, but if it fits I'll get them.

Do you guys think tha this setup will work? The wheels are 18x8.0 F / 18x9.0 RR, with 225/40R18 FRONT & 255/35R18 REAR tires. Would this fit or is it waaay too big?

Depends on the offset 18s are too big for an mr2 IMO unless its widebody. Youre going to have some fun squeezing 255 back there.

Well, I just got my car today. I took a look at the tires and they're 195/55/R15's in the front and 225/50/R15's in the rear.

At this point I'm thinking about keeping the tire sizes the same and put that on 17's. What do you think?

There's a whole bunch of considerations when you get your wheels and tires, trust me. It's hard because it's a staggerred setup. you won't find 195 width for a 17" tire.

I'd say 205/40/17 and 225/40/17 if you want to keep it close.

I run 245/40/17 in the rear with a 38+ ofset and it rubs just on big bumps, and that's with rolled fenders as well...

Thanks CFC. I think that I want to keep it clean-looking while at the same time making do with a stock suspension. I'd like to tuck the wheels in as much as possible, but I know that's very unlikely unless I want to spend a couple grand on a suspension.

But anyway, I'll take this stuff into consideration and I'll post some updated pics as soon as I get my new stuff. Thanks again.
