I am selling my 1996 Kawasaki NINJA ZX-9R this spring.

Soon to come, A 2003 Suzuki GSXR 1300R Hayabusa. Can't wait to see what it can do.

Whys that?? This thing will eat up a 1000. The 1000 has a little better 60 ft time and a faster 1/8 mile but other that that, its all Hayabusa.

hahah hayabusa and gix 1000 are completely different bikes...how are you comparing them?

i guarantee the gix would eat up the hayabusa on the track buit the haybusa would rule on drag...the haya busa handles really big.

The only place the busa has superiority over other bikes is on the highway. The new RC-51, GSX-R 1000, R-1...etc... own the street.

That said, I use to ride with a couple guys and one of them had a busa. On our races back from banff he would get about 1/2 a km behind. And the pass right buy us no problem. Pretty neat bike if you ask me hehe.

It rules the highway. That is why I am buying it. I live in a town in Saskatchewan that has less than 2500 people in it. There are 2 bikes in town, which makes it difficult to rip around town and not get caught. Besides, the speed limit is 40km/h until you hit the highway. It wouldn't make much sense for me to get a GSXR 1000 or an R-1 to sit in first gear and rule the streets at 40km/h.

Highway is where the fun is.

Well holy fuck. I picked it up yesterday. It has 0 km on it so I can't rev it past 5500 to ensure a proper break in procedure. It is faster than my NINJA reving 12,000!! UNFUCKINBELEVEABLE. Pics to come...

If its warm enough next weekend, I will. But I can only do about 200km/h because I have to keep the revs low. Guess it will take me a couple of hours.

Working in a motorcycle is such a bitch. You wan't to go fast but you know when you crank the throttle the engine won't last as long. Can't have the best of both worlds.

If you are interesting in making that bike even faster (I don't know why) but my friend thought it was a good idea for his 1300, you can do the following.

-Lighten the parts as much as possible
we drilled out the passenger foot pegs and the like. Plastic seat cowel was cut out and some electronics replaced. etc.

-New drive and wheel sprockets (choose high speed or accel)

-New chain

-Exchaust Cans (No need to change the pipes on that bike)

-Power Commander (Running Rich makes the bike shoot flames and aids in a higher speed and longer nitrous delivery)

-Nitrous (See applicantions) My friend used a Sneeky Pete NOS kit.

-Turbo (Six thousand dollar upgrade) I don't recommend it though, as when yosh made the first Turbo Busa called the X1, the 90 pound jap they put on it killed himself halfway down the track.

-Capacitor (You will notice when you max the bike out that this will be due to the battery not being able to give out the required power. This can actually be corrected with a Stereo Capacitor. It sounds weird but it works. Put it in the seat cowel.

sorry dude, i think technology has come a long way compared to your old bike. You can rip on a (newer) bike everytime you drive it and as long as you keep up the mantinance it will be fine for a long long time.

Bikes aren't meant for drag racing, notice the tires? They have a sharply curved contact patch for TURNING. Anyway, a GSX-R1000 is just as fast in the 1/4 as a Busa. My bud ran a 9.904 @137 on his 1000 (He weighs 140lbs and is very good at launching that thing) and I have run a 10.326 @134 on mine. Most of the Busa's there could barely keep up with me because they are so damn heavy and only have 10-15 more hp at the crank and they are some 160+lbs heavier.
