"Yet another outstanding piece of "sleeper" hardware, the Sapphire X800 GTO2 was pretty good stock card to begin with. It was soon discovered that this card has serious potential and all you had to do to unlock it was perform a simple BIOS flash. For your 5 min effort you then end up with a full fledged X800 XT capable of running Platinum Edition core and clock speeds. " - http://articles.pcapex.com/editorial/the_best_of_2005.php?page=3

-that was written for the X800 GTO2, but im sure it would work with this too?

The gto2 bios flash unlocks 4 shader pipelines taking it from 12 to 16. Ben's card here already has 16.

Buy Buy Buy!

haha

This card is outstanding. Runs BF2 so smooth.

So long as you have at least a GB of ram and a decent CPU so that there is no bottlenecks on the rest of the system.

Card Comparison (http://www.tomshardware.com/2005/07/05/vga_charts_vii/page2.html)

If you look at the stats, the card performs somewhere in between the X800XT and the X800Pro. It's basically an underclocked X800XT or an underclocked X800Pro with extra pipelines enabled and slightly speedier ram. Either way, nice little card. I've got a Sapphire X800Pro ViVo with the 16 pipelines enabled and it runs everything I can throw at it at stock speeds.

just wondering, but is X800 XL same as X800 GTO?

Very similar. If you can unlock the extra pipelines on the GTO, they're virtually identical.

X800XL 256MB DX 9 400mhzcore 1000mhzram 256 bit 16 pipes

X800GTO 256MB DX 9 400mhzcore 980mhzram 256 bit 12 pipes

Low ballers will get laughed at. If you think I'll sell a basically new gear for 1/10th the price, get your walk on, haha.
