Not too bad of a car, just the name is effed up. What the hell is a Zephyr?

A Zephyr is a gentle breeze; or at least that's the definition.

I've seen these around Winnipeg over the past 4 months.

It looks OK, a little overstyled for my tastes, the LS was a step in the right direction, IMO, this is going the wrong way...

This car is built on the same platform as Mazda6 and the Ford Fusion. The front looks awesome, but the rear lights shouldn't have reached so far into the middle. Shorten them by a couple inches and they'll look alright. I like the name; it actually means something (as opposed to a computer-generated word) and has been used on Ford products before (50s-60s English Ford?).

Even the Lincoln LS is big.

The zephyr is the replacement for the LS.

^^ i really hope it isn't the replacement for the LS. The LS actually made work fun, we have a couple of these Zephers at wor but I havn't got the chance to drive one yet. The LS was the bomb, best modern Lincoln. That new Mark LT is an F150 Lariat with some nicer leather, thats it, nothing more at all. The F150 is a POS so you know what to expect from this thing.

LS was definately better, but this is ok I guess! I'm liking the new grills on the lincolns. I think its the same as the Navigator. Isn't there someone on Beyond called Zephyr?

Yeah, there is a chick from southern California named Zephyr. She is pretty hot. All you e-mackers should send her a PM. Be careful though, she gets a little testy and is a mod, so you might get banned if you aren't nice.

Speaking of the LS, remember the V6 model was available with a manual tranny? I wonder how many people bought it in that form. IMO the later models looked like :barf: due to the chrome wheels. The pre-facelift car looked better.

Ford also made a RHD LS for the Asian markets, and included wool carpets and some other seat materials to suit Japanese tastes. I wonder how well the car did over there... it seems that recent efforts to send domestic cars over to the other side of the Pacific didn't fare too well - Chevy/Toyota Cavalier, Ford Taurus, Lincoln LS, Toyota Voltz (Pontiac Vibe) are all examples. I dunno why they weren't well received even though there were obvious efforts in adapting them for the Asian markets.

Goblin

If you saw the car to the right, as seen by the first picture, you would have been the same day. It is a GTP with windows tinted deeply.

That would be my bros car, as we had travelled together to the location of the sighting as mine was sitting at home, saving gasoline.

It's no longer called the Zephyr. This model has been renamed to MKZ.

It's a competitor to TL and ES350. They'll probably source another Jag as LS replacement.

When did that happen? It is still listed as the Zephyr as far as I've seen.

---------------------------------

They seem to still list the Ls as well so is this a true replacement for the LS? Small V6 modestly powered and front drive. LSs are Rear drive are they not?

Their new MKX crossover / SUV / whatever looks interesting.

No way this is an LS replacement, this is intended as the "low-end" Lincoln. The LS was a much nicer car, and I'm sure the LS replacement (possibly the MkZ thing) will probably be based off of the Jaguar XJ platform, and running RWD with a Jag-sourced engine - just like the LS did.

The interior in the Zephyr is really quite nice, although it's obviously geared more towards older people.

Isnt this car based off the Ford five-hundred? I would think a new LS would be based on Fuison platform? :dunno:

2006 Zephyr

+ AWD
+ bigger V6
+ 6 speed

= 2007 MKZ

Still based off stretched Mazda 6 platform a la Fusion.

Hmm, I always thought the Zephyr was based off the Ford 500 platform. It looks sorta like a 500. what eva
