in light of the ridiculous prices for p28 ecu's nowadays, is it possible to chip vx civic ecu's to run the same program as the p28's? i remember someone saying they got their p06 to run a p28 program but don't remember. any help would be great.

If you are talking about hondata's you need a vtec ecu for a vtec engine.

It is possible to chip the P06 ECU to run VTEC.

Talk to these guys (www.pe-tuning.com) about it.

No you don't. Most OBD1 non-vtec ecu's can be easily modified into a VTEC ecu. Even Hondata does this.

if you need an ECU to run a vtec motor i can get you a P08 which is a JDM SOHC vtec ecu for $200.00. And it's another $65 or 70 to chip it for hondata.

You can use a p-30,p08, or a po7 should also be able to use a p72

I don't think he's looking at running Hondata, since he's looking at running a P28 specific program :).

Like I said, most of the OBD1 ECU can be converted to P28 equivilent... they all use the 02D01720-1500 motherboard. The exception is the P72/75's which use a different motherboard.

I just bought a PR4 OBD1 (B18a integra ECU) for $50 that can be converted easily.
