Hello, I hope somebody can help me. I have a 2001 Mitsubishi Mirage and it has slowly began to make a knocking noise on one wheel. The steering wheel shakes slightly but the knocking is a bit loud and comes for the front drivers side. It becomes louder and shakes more noticably when i brake. I have changed the brakes in case one of the rotors was warped; as one of my neighborhood mechanics suggested but the knocking persists. The funny thing is, raise the front end and spin the wheels, I only hear the noise when it is on "Drive" and not in Reverse. Can anybody give me some suggestions?

Thanks.

C.J

CV-joint problem. Still under warranty?

The car is still under warranty but I would need to call them and make sure this is covered. Thanks for the response Barbarian!

You've made sure all the lugnuts are tight? Failing that, as barbarian stated, you're most likely looking at a CV joint. I'd replace the whole axle... WAY easier and cleaner (unless you're having the work done).
