1999 GMC Jimmy Heater Core

A friend of mine has been having some problems with the heat in his Jimmy. He had it checked out and believes it is his heater core. He was quoted 8 hours labour plus parts.

Anyways, he has asked me if I could help. I'm pretty mechanically inclined, but have never replaced a heater core, nor have I ever worked on a Jimmy before. I've searched trying to find a good site with more information, but can't seem to find anything applicable. If anybody knows of any good sites which has step by step process for a 1999 Jimmy/Blazer please let me know.

Is the heater core leaking? If not, have the system chemically flushed.
