hey does anyone know how i can tell if my 1992 Jetta is a 1.8L or a 2.0L

the VIN Label has the following info

1G2 2V4
Jetta
77 kW GKAT 5G
RV

i have no idea if its a GLI or just a Jetta.

I am not an MK2 expert but what kind of wheels does it have? what kind of seats inside? does it have a spoiler on the trunk?

thats awesome.. but it only lists the following

Engine: Lowest output petrol

do i have to assume that this is a 1.8L??? i know the plugs/wires/distcap/fuel filter is different for a 1.8 vs 2.0L i really want to make sure i get the engine size correct.

it has aftermarket wheels, cloth seats, with seat warmers and no spoiler.

Stick in 3VWEA0162NB123456 into that generator in the first link and it appears to be correct according to that chart. Try putting the actual VIN.

The 2.0L crossflow engine didn't come in the MKII's (1985-1992) they started in the MKIII's (1993-1998). Look at the top of your engine.....If it says 16V anywhere on it, than it's the 2.0L 16-valve engine. If not, than it's a 1.8L 8-valve.
