Once again the Calgary Sports Car Club will be organizing a season of Solo I at Race City. The 2006 Solo I season will consist of a driving school and 4 timed events.

Fees
• Driving School $200
• Driving School and 2 Timed Events $575
• Driving School and 3 Timed Events $695
• Driving School and 4 Timed Events $795

• Deposits are $400 and should be mailed to: John G. Herbst, 3 Canova Road SW, Calgary,AB, T2W 2K5, Deposits are payable by March 31st.

• Balance of payments due at school.
• All cheques should be made payable to: “CSCC SOLO I”

Classes
• We are trying something different this year. Instead of a points system, you will be classed according your best lap time.
• Year end trophies will be determined on your best 3 out of 4 results.

Cars and Safety
• Cars will have to be safe, there is a tech inspection that each participant will be responsible for completing, and ensuring their car is safe for racing.
• Helmets are required at all events, and need to be at least Snell SA 2000 or M 2000 endorsed.
• A 4 pt harness is required during all timed events.
• Cars running slicks will need a cage.
• All vehicle modifications are permitted, provided they are safe.

Dates
• Current confirmed dates:
• Friday April 28 - Driving School Evening Classroom Session, either at the CSCC Clubhouse or RCMP concession area
• Saturday April 29 - On Track Driving School
• Saturday May 6 - On Track Timed Event #1
• Event 2,3,4 TBA by Race City

Enquiries: [email protected]

Note!!!! We need about 35 participants to make this work. Due to Race City booking requirements, if we do not have sufficient confirmed entrants by March 31st we will have to cancel the season.

Count me in

So $400 before March 31st and $175 remaining on April 28th for 2 timed sessions to follow?

Any special rules with convertables?

Convertibles need a cage if I remember right, along with the 4pt harness.

A cage or a roll bar? If it needs to be caged count me out:banghead:

Rage is correct. Convertibles need a roll bar.

Does the 4 point have to meet any sort of standards?

The specifications for the roll bars and harnesses can be found in section 10.5 of the WCMA regs:

http://www.wcma.ca/WCMA-Solo-Rules.pdf

Reading that, it does not state that the harness must be 4 point, just the material, mounting and size.

Sorry, you also need to read the Solo Regulations which are farther down in that document. Sec 1.5.

Ok gang, time to find it if you are Michael Schumacher or Takuma Sato! 11 turns, longest straight in Canada. You know you want to try it!

We specifically put in a school and 2 event package so people could get their feet wet at a reduced cost. Come on in, the water is fine!

Do you have lap times for previous years? Curious ;).

Rage, I was looking up Solo 1 times from last year. They are posted somewhere...do some hunting.

Oh hell, I hunted for you...

http://www.bishop.ab.ca/CSCC/2005_Solo_1_%20full_results.pdf

I think the best times are in the 1:23.xx range. Maybe some quicker. But really only a few cars/guys are in the 1:2x and most of it is the high 1:2x range. I think the majority of the cars are in the 1:3x range...

I put down a 1:30.00 in my SRT-4 on pump fuel when I was just out for some fun one day...on race fuel, it'll do 1:2x times IMO. Since it banged off a 1:30.00 and I wasn't trying to be quick.

Reminder to get your deposits in for Solo I by the end of March. I know the first question will be what are the confirmed dates........ unfortunately I don't have them yet. Art wants us to wait another week before he can confirm June, July and August. Don't let that stop you, send your cheques to John. http://www.bishop.ab.ca/CSCC/solo1.html

Billet,

Not quite sure what you mean by open back straights. We do run the full course at Race City. Hope that answers your question.

Ok, so I have a question.

I sign up, and pay for school and two paid events.

If I decide, after the second event, that I'd like to continue and do the third and fourth event, can I simply pay the difference and participate?

Z Fan, That will be fine.

Damn, that's a little out of my price range for this year. Is that the only way to get on the road course? :(

July 8 Sat Event #3

freakin,

There are other ways to get on the roadcourse, in non-timed lapping days etc. I wouldn't say any are all that inexpensive. Solo I is probably the cheapest way to get on the full roadcourse in a timed event.
