So im at the light about to turn onto 14th street off of John Laurie, Im in my gf's car so im not even thinking about speeding. Im in the left lane and there is a 300zx beside me. So the light turns green and I take off at a normal pace. a little ways up the road the cop jumps out in the right lane where the 300zx is with his hand out, im like cool he got a ticket not me, he waves the guy past and tells me to pull over. Im like WTF we where traveling side my side why would I get the ticket. He writes me up for going 70 in a 50. I asked how do you know if was me and not the guy right beside me? He said with laser he clocked him first and then me right after, I find this hard to believe considering we where side by side. What really gets me is that I Wasnt even trying to speed and the guy beside me was travelling right beside me the whole time. I know this becase I was checkin out his pimped wheels.

Is there any way to get around this? Should I call points? Do you have to pay when you call points? If I want to fight it what can I do??? :dunno:

Sounds a little bullshitty to me but I guess if you were speeding you were speeding. Not sure why he didn't nail the 300 too? Maybe the cop thought you were cute and wanted to get your address!!:woot:

Problem is, laser guns need a few seconds to reset, so he probably only clocked the person in the speeding lane, regardless. That is what they usually do.

Its a little odd that he didn't pull both of you over, but he pretty much got you dead to rights if you were right beside the 300 and he was speeding too. Give pointts a call and see what they say.

You got nailed with laser, so you're guilty. Sure, the 300 was guilty of the same offense, but that doesn't relieve you of any guilt in this particular situation. The cop said he was using laser, which can at most distances pick out a single target when getting a speed. If it was a radar gun, the ticket could be disputed rather easily.

Give pointts a call, they can probably reduce the charge for you, or maybe allow you to go for the RO (Registered Owner) option where you just pay the fine and face no demerits.

Good luck.

hmmm...this happened to me a while ago. i was doing 103 in a 80, going down a hill. my advice for u is to go down to the "prosecutor's office" downtown(where u pay ur ticket). setup an appointment with them, and they can reduce ur fine, or deduct no demerit points(still have to pay the fine). i chose the "no demerit point deduction, and payed the fine". don't dress nice when u go down there, if the think u got money, they will make u pay the fine(jeans and t-shirt is fine). also, when i renewed my insurance, it did not go up...no demerits means no speeding record, who knows?

hope this helps,

give it a try, u got nothing to loose. oh yeah, don't tell them what u drive. when i told them i drove a "new" car, they said "if u could afford a new car, then u can afford to pay the full amount of the ticket". that was when i tried to reduce the fine amount after they agreed to "deduct no demerit points".

try to kill two birds with one stone, plus if u have a clean record, they will try to help u keep it clean. :D

Hmm... If the 300ZX was speeding, and you were beside him, that means you were going the same speed and you were speeding too.. BUSTED BY GAGE :p

Something Similiar happened to BarryBeach and Me. Going South down Mcleod, right where the Mazda Dealership is, they cops had radar trap set up. Barry was going about 80, and i Blew by him going 130,The cop must have been asleep, becasue when he looked up and came after us, he pulled over Barry, and gave him a ticket. He reduced the fine to 110km/h, and made an error on the ticket, so it got thrown out anyway. Barry was pissed at me at the time because We both knew it me that got clocked, oh well.

Just Go in and try to fight the ticket yourself, probably not worth going through pointts for such a small ticket.:dunno:

How long can you wait before you go down to the office, I'd do it now but I have no money.
How does clocking work, cuz when I got my ticket I was I had switched lanes after speeding a bit and was in flow of traffic not speeding, then the cop came behind me and pulled me over, said on the ticket I was clocked, how does that work?

This is just something I heard. You mail in how much the fine is but you write the cheque for more then the fine. Then they send you back the difference but they can't process it unless you deposit the cheque. I don't know if this is legit or not never tried it.

Peace
