You are right..... could have been worse. Racing= double insurance and big fine. My buddy got one for racing down Bow Bottom Trail towards Deerfoot, and he got a racing on the highway ticket. That doubled his insurance to like $16 000/year!

If you have some cash, take it to a lawyer, or one of those traffic ticket specialists. Its nice to have a clean driving record.

He doesn't have a clean driving record anyways

i believe I was told once that you get a demeritfor just getting pulled over to recieve a ticket. I am not 100% sure on this information.

proably the same as Driving without undue care and attention, thats at least 3 demerits, maybe even 6.

Heres a list of common offences:

Yeah it was harsh. It wouldn't have been as much, but he had a minor claim go through just before he got the ticket. His insurance went from $5000 to $8000, then right after that it went up to $16 000. His car is parked in the garage now.... no doubt though. Thats expensive. You could take a limo everywhere for $16 000 a year!

Not true. You only get the demerits for the offense, as there is no "demerit surcharge." :D

haha that ticket is worse than speeding and sometimes worse than stunting, so i don't think you got off lucky. Best bet is to fight it, extend the dates for court a few times, hope the cop gets confused and doesn't show, and you get off.

then why is the fine relatively low?

how much is the fine?

It sounds like a "driving without undue care & attention" which carries 6 demerits and will jack up your insurance rates. Why not call the police info line and ask them if you're unsure. 266-1234

That ticket should jack up the insurance by at least $2g's.
