I've talked to Jer & Rick at Rally Subaru here in Edmonton, and off the top of my head I remember they said there were maybe 2-3 swapped RS's including mine; All of them being WRX's. Out of curiosity how many are there down in Calgary? Has anyone done the STi swap down in Calgary?

There are a couple of swapped RS's in Calgary, not sure about the exact number. There are a couple of WRX's with STi swaps, but I have never seen a STi engine in a RS myself.

Hmmm Subie forums seem kind of dead the last couple of days. I guess everyone's at work. Anyways; Can anyone confirm a WRB 2.5RS with the STi swap in calgary? Or it might be BRP; just one of the guys at the 780 meet started ranting about how there is one down there.

On a different note; where would you guys recommend going for a STi swap down in the states?

There is a v7 jdm STi motor for sale on nasioc out of Montreal for $5000.

if you are goign to the states check out PDX tuning http://www.pdxtuning.com/

but I would stay in Canada and go to Rocket Rally http://www.rocketrally.com/

I am not 100% sure that rocket does swaps, but I have heard nothing but good stuff about thier tunning and aftermarket support.

I heard many good things about Rocket Rally too; Tora off Nasioc is very prompt with his replies. The only reason why I would like to go down to the states is that STi engines + tranny + drive train swaps seem cheaper than they are up here. I've contacted Supermoose down in Texas; but I don't like the idea of driving stateside on an engine that isn't 100% garaunteed.

Does anyone else have experiences having work done stateside? What garages are reliable/reputable for their swaps?

Pee_sak:

Are you sure that PDX does swaps? I've just browsed around there website and they seem to only work on New age Imprezas other than that OBS..

anyways gold_rush(red deer) on nasioc had the sti jdm swapped into his wagon maybe you can ask him who did his work for him? cuz i think he had to change al his ecu wiring and what not too in that sort of swap? if nto then nevermind this comment ;)

Evo's are great cars, so are subies.. personal taste is pretty much what it comes down to.

As much as I like Subies and have them ingrained in my dna (my whole family had them at one point, and if it wasnt for my brother's habit of destroying cars on a regular basis, still would) I would still pick an EVO MR over an STI.

That being said, If I had $40k right now I would go buy an 04 Sti (just like benyl's car. that colour is teh sexy). I would keep my GC though... and put another STI drivetrain in it. gotta show love for the old school.

I think most Subie owners like EVOs also (they are similar).
If I could I would have my Impreza and an EVO VII.

Seriously if Evo was available here i'd say Fuck the STi MRS FTW!

But they are not so I got nothing but love for Subaru until I go down to the states. hahahaha. Sigh; I love how side tracked this convo got :( I still haven't been able to find a shop to do a STi swap in.

The best shop on this side of Canada is probably Rocket Rally.
Once I'm able to get one (eventually) that's where I'll go.
The east coast has a few more options.

With the CAD dollar going up; the price of a conventional STi swap down in the states will be insanely cheaper than Rocket Rally I would fathom. I got quoted by a few garages down in Texas for 10,500 for a regular STi swap + Tranny & DCCD rear; compared to Rocket Rally's 9,000 before parts.
