When I bought mine, I didn't even want the leather. But to get the LSD, I had to choose the package with the leather. In the US, you can get pretty much everything a-la-carte.

It's not a luxo car, far too small for that. Not a great interior, but it's a cool little car.

I like the interior. It has the Escaine seats. Very comfortable. The speedo is one of the best I've seen.

I wonder how much RCTS charged for that Turbo kit?

A little over $18k since it was a complete custom job for Lexus Canada. RCTS recommended I do an Aristo swap for the same price. That way I still have a spare engine left over. There are quite a few turbo kits for the IS300 that put out the same HP numbers (under same amount of boost) for about US$6k - $8k plus install. A lot of people have had good success with them as well. Either way, atleast there's somebody in town who I can trust for an IS300 turbo!

That IS300 has been around for a while, its cool to see that Toyota Canada hired RTCS to do the job. The car was originally built to show off the L-tuned parts and was basically all show. Great to see it has some power too it now, that car has had a pretty hard street life however:D

That is a lot of money to shell out! But I guess it is all worth it? What type of numbers did the turbo IS put out? Or has it been dynoed yet?

Altezza

From what he told me, that specific car hasn't been fully dyno'd yet since the engine is brand spanking new and has like a total of 36km on it! Somebody has to break it in (I'll be happy to volunteer for this) before he'll move the rev-limiter from 3800rpm. He built it to put out about 350rwhp at 7-8psi, which is very similar to what all the other comparable kits are putting out.

Thanks for all of the pics guys, I was hoping someone would snap a few of this beauty!
Did anybody by chance get a pic of the "info board" that was displayed showing all of the components they use?

Also, when I went to talk to the guy at RCTS, he said that the IS300 comes stock with 2JZ motor? Is this true? I don't know a whole lot about these cars...

Sure does . Stock 2JZ-GE engine. That L-tuned turbo IS300 is a "Stage 1" kit...With the basic underpinings from the Supra, the sky is the possibility for this engine.

Thanks Altezza!

So I'm assuming then that with a stock 2JZ-GE engine and a turbo kit, you wouldn't need to chance out the internals unless you were planning on running a large amount of boost?

If the IS300 comes with a 2JZ-GE engine, what engine comes with the single and dual turbo supras?
Are they the same internals?

the 2JZ-GTE came in the supra turbos...compression was a nice 8.5:1...for the naturally aspirated supras (and i assume the IS300) the compression was at 10:1

Altezza

The 2JZ-GE is from the naturally aspirated Supra. The TT editions run the 2JZ-GTE engine. Although these two engines share the same basic layout, that's not to say you can just strap up 2 turbos to the 2JZ-GE and rip the snott out of it with high boost. Most of the stage 1 kits are bolt-on and do not require major internal work for 7-8psi of boost. If you move to a stage 2 kit, you'll have to work on lowering the stock compression. Until then, you're fine.

Voodoo Child

So then what you are saying is that the internals on the GTE were made (obviously) for the turbo application and the GE engine will require modification over 8psi because of different internals and compressin ratio.

Altezza
03-17-2003, 12:39 PM
In a nutshell, yeah. You're fine with Stage 1. Most Stage 2 kits run anywhere from 12-15psi of boost. As such, you have to lower the compression to around 8.x. Starting at stage 2, you've got a lot of work ahead of you.

Sweet thanks.

So did anybody get a picture of that Info Board that displayed all of the kit that RCTS used?

It's not as easy as it sounds...

There are a couple around that I've heard about in the US. It's a hell-ass expensive swap and a pain in the ass from what I've read. Most people tend to agree that it's more worth while to work with the GE than a GTE drop unless you want MAD horsepower.

I remember reading something about that on the IS300 boards. Forgot which site though...
