looks good but as the article says just a 4 door squished into a 2 door.

Seating for 3 in the back? That's a roomy sports car.
They should ditch the rear bench and make it a 2+2.

G35 candidate possibly (although that's being a bit ambitios, the G35 was the shit when it first came out).
350Z? No. Too much practicality and luxury to compete with the 350Z.

I look at it and see a less presitgious 6-series.

I meant Supra vs 350Z and IS500 vs G35.

Now I wonder if this will spawn 450Z and G45 out of Nissan.....

Ah, now that certainly makes more sense.
A G45/450Z would be possibly, certainly considering the HP war currently being waged by auto manufacturers, but that would mean using a tuned-up 4.5 litre currently in production, as developing a new 4.5 would be quite pointless for a single application. Now the 4.5 currently in use doesn't provide significant gains over the 3.5 currently inside the G35/350Z.

(these numbers are all taken from the SUV-application of the engines in use.)

Engine 0-60 1/4 mile HP TQ
5.6 V8 6.8 15.2 @ 89.4 315 390 // 5200lb truck QX56
4.5 V8 6.5 14.8 @ 95.1 315 329 // 4300lb suv FX45
3.5 V6 7.3 15.5 @ 91.0 280 270 // 4200lb suv FX35

(the 1/4 mile figure are inside trucks, weight listed beside each)

I like it, I don't even really mind the exhaust. I mean, its different :dunno: I agree with previous comments in that it should probably be a 2+2. The IS250/350 isn't even that roomy in the back in the sedan version.

I think that, if that is the case, they will make a hastily tuned up version of the existing 4.5 (maybe slap a turbo on it?) or detune the engine they are planning to put in the GT-R...

Yeah the exhaust isn't that bad. A hell of a lot better than the fart cannon's half you probably have :guns:
Who knows they may not bother with a 4.5 in that line up once the new GT-R is out (which is scheduled for NA relase)

Why are you comparing an M3 competitor with the 350Z? which is like 1/2 the price.. lol.

IMO the quad exhaust isn't too bad. The rear bumper on the IS 250/350 out there right now seems a little too big for me. I think they stick the quad upright like that to take away that image of a fatass'ed rear.

wow, looking good and i like what i'm reading. i really like those exhausts actually, unique, not like anything out there right now.

The idea sounds great, the more coupes out there the better. Hopefully Lexus will dump an AWD option on this car. Definitely a candidate for next car, but I'm still going to give the next gen G35C a look first. I always thought the current gen M3 does 0-60 in 5 seconds, I would assume the next Gen would be faster...

500HP V10 hauls the M5 0-60 in 4.7s

M3 will probably be 400lbs/100HP/2 cylinder less than M5. Chances that it can beat M5's 4.7s is pretty slim.

IS350 already takes care of the G35 and 350z easily. its rated higher power out put then those two and its in the same class. but lexus' aim isn't nissan, it's bmw.

bmw is lexus' new target... is350 is same class as 350z. is500 is for m3 and m5. IS350 their front runner right now is in constant comparison with the 330ci. and it just recently beat it in crash tests! w00t i know im safe.

DAMIT right after i buy my IS350 i read this news..
