alright, let me start off here. i've got a '98 dodge avenger sport (2.5l v6).

so car-stats.com says my avenger pulls a slow-as-hell 10.something seconds in it's 0-60.

my dad's 4cylinder accord, according to car-stats.com, will pull a 0-60 in about 7-8 seconds.

now. my question is, i KNOW my avenger is faster than my dad's accord. by alot. i've got the 2.5l 6cyl.
according to car-stats.com, a honda INSIGHT (that thing of honda's...the hybrid...4cylinder with like 12 horsepower...) does 0-60 in 10.7 seconds. i know my avenger doesn't suck that much.

so, car-stats.com says that a '95 (unspecified engine) avenger does 0-60 in about 10 seconds.

i KNOW this can't be right. because from about a 15mph roll i get to 60 in about 7 seconds. i just want an accurate timeclock for my avenger. this hurts to know my mom's 10 year old minivan beats my new car.

Unless you have modded your avenger, they are that slow. My friend had the V6 and it was not fast at all.

heh, well it's a 2.5l v6 as opposed to the 420a which is the 2.0l 4cyl.

now, i'm just trying to say that my dad's '00 4cyl accord feels way slower than my avenger. and according to car-stats the accord is faster.

and my mom's old minivan is faster than it as well.

there's something wrong with this picture. it must be the '95 4cyl because i knowwww there's no way i'm as slow as a 10.something in the 0-60. probably more in the 8second range.

i just know from what i've counted from a 15mph roll doesn't add up to an extra 3 or more seconds there.

soooo i'm just confused here =/

my main point is that it says my avenger gets beaten by an 11 year old minivan. according to this site.

bleh.

Either take it to the track, and see what it runs, or suck it up and admit that your car is slow.

I've heard things like the 2.0L 5 speed is as quick if not quicker than the V6...

420A > V6 :D
served well enough in my car, mine weighs more then an Avenger I'm sure, and does the sprint to 60 a couple seconds faster then yours apparently does.

I think the reason your car *feels* faster is because you have more torque than your dad's Accord or your mom's minivan. In a straight-away however, that's where torque often runs out. The higher end horsepower from the Accord, and not the mention a better tranny that can get the power actually to the ground, will easily outrun the Avenger. And don't forget the whole power to weight ratio thing here. That's why most passenger cars with half the power of a pick-up can out-run the pickups (most...). Of course, that doesn't really speak much for the minivan, but maybe that's 'cause your Avenger really IS that slow? :dunno:

Yep, the 2.0L 5sp is faster than the 2.5L v6, but probably because you can only get an auto with the v6.:guns:

This site confirms those numbers...
Maybe its heavy?
Maybe its how the power is put down to the ground meaning the drivetrain may rob power?

I used to easily beat my buddy's V6/auto Avenger with ease in my 98 Sunfire GT. Face it, the Avengers are heavy and slow.

1993 Acura Integra GS-R 6.5 15.2

wow...according to that site the G2 GS-R is quicker than the 3G GS-R.

What mo_money2supe mentions probably isn't too far from the truth. A parallel example would be the 1990 Z24 3.1L 5 speed which puts down 180 ft/lb of torque. It's somewhere in the 8 second range, but easily feels like it could be in the low 7's.

Hey, you can compete with Toyota Supras in your Avenger...Alright!!

As for your intake and exhaust, with a V6, I'm sure you WILL gain some power, but if you're looking for a miracle (ie. beat your dad), don't be getting your hopes up. Honestly, the best thing you could do is try to save weight from the car, 'cause judging by the replies so far, the Avenger seems like a boat! BUT, unless you're willing to strip the car and use it as a track-only car, you really won't be saving much weight by changing minor things.

That big ass Dodge coupe is that slow?
Are you serious? loooooooooool
Exhaust + intake....I'd say 10 HP at the MOST, which would feel like...well it wouldn't feel like anything really.
