Well tongiht at about 5:30 i was driving accross lethbridge and passed an intersection where a dum kunt decided to turn left in front of me on a solid green as soon as i entered the intersection, we couldnt even say a word before impact, i was going approximatly 50 km/h and my buddy said i swerved and breaked hard but still creamed her(i dont remember the point of impact, just spinning around and pitch blackness)....

her vehicle( a dodge caravan) was spun around doing a 180 while mine did at least one full spin and came to rest facing the opposite direction i had come from with both air bags deployed and prolly 10 meteres down and to the side of the van.

My buddy and i both have minor injuries(cuts, bruises, sore necks etc and the lady driving the van went to the hospital even though she complained of only the same injuries:_please:

she has since been charged by the cops but my car is pretty much fucked, my cell phone that was in my cup holder was in pieces which shows how hard the impact must have been, seat belts are ripped, mirrors and the fornt end are detroyed, somehow my passeneger rear wheel well was caved in and the wheel was dangling altho besides that area there was no damage on that side:confused:

sorry for the giberish and spell spelling, hopefully it made some sense

i didnt get any pics taken at the scene but ill take some tmrw and post them

Sorry to hear about the accident man, as far as you car goes, it's probably a write off, dented panels on the opposite side of impact usually means that the chassis is bent badly. Speedy recovery!

sounds pretty shitty.....

the only positive is maybe you can finally get a new car since youve been trying to sell yours!

yup, my car was travelling west bound on whoop up and the caravan was in the turn lane on east bound whoopup turning onto jerry potts(well whatever road it is on the other side)

my car ended up hitting i believe the traffic like and spinning and coming to a stop on the other side of the westbound lane facing eastbound on whoopup

my neck and back are starting to really hurt and i got pretty much no sleep last night since my arm kills everytime it touches something(not a break but just a lot of skin got ripped off) i believe from rubbing against my steering wheel:dunno:

that bitch wont get any time, all she willget is 115 dollar fine.
but since its her fault, her insurance costs will skyrocket, and just wait till the ambulance bill shows up , and to fix her car, and such..

Ouch sounds like you had a rough night to say the least...It also sounds like an accident I had but add +10km per hour and no charges were made cuz the woman was an 80yr old.

Due to changes in our insurance, soft tissue injuries are the worst to get. I suggest you sue for due compensation if you feel you deserve it.. most insurance compensation for pain and injury in regards to soft tissue injuries are less than adequete. Be sure to be checked by as many professionals as possible, as soon as possible. Chiropractic and physiotherapy bills can add up later on (past claim coverage)if you don't get on top of it right away. Best of luck with your recovery!

PS. Are you keeping your write-off?

a)thanks for the heads up but my dads a lawyer and already has someone from his firm working on this
b)im not sure what is gonna be done with the car, i have no reason to keep the write off, but its up to the insurance company but after looking at it today it is worse than i remembered, my fender was inside the interior of the car inches form where my foot must likely have been and the pol ehit the sid eof the car inches form the passenegr side where my buddy was, ill post pics later

Sounds bad. Advice, take your car home, before it gets taken to the yard. Remove all your possesions from it. I did (including my stereo) and I was fine. My buddy wrote his car off...went straight to the impound. So....cd player, 15 CDs, 4 aftermarket speakers, $400 or so sunglasses, and everything else of value....gone. Nobody would fess up to it. Impound yard shut up about it, wouldn't say anything.

sequence i belive is
a) hit van almost head on
b) hit traffic light with cement base
c) end up on top of pedestrian median behind traffiic light over curb

and now my question is , Do you guys think its a write off? My car was appraised at 28xxx dollars due to mods 2 years ago so thats the only thing thats iffy is if its worth that much will it be written off:dunno:

Mr_John
03-10-2006, 03:01 PM
that without a doubt HAS to be a write-off
i hope you have a secondary car because having a write-off car sucks
so is dealing with insurance and finding the next car

and you should get your back and neck checked out (as people haev said)
few years ago i was T-boned (like in your situation) and I had no injuries, or so I thought.......

Completely written off. The rear trailing arm has been pulled out of the frame by the looks of it.. frame damage to the front and rear of the vehicle is write off in my mind. If it were me I'd ask how much the buy-out from the insurance company was and then sell it for parts if it was cheap.

I dont see anything other than maybe the shift knob and tail lights that arent crushed.
plus the headaches of selling the parts might not be worth it

it is a write off if they appraise it at 80%+ damage

Passenger side headlight ($700 retail OEM), tail lights, passenger side door, interior parts, engine , transmission .. If you can't turn a wrench then nevermind, but there is a lot of money in those parts if you are willing to invest the time.

talk to your insurance company and
tell them that you need a rental car.

Crappy deal on the crash man. I used to travel through that intersection all the time, and my friends sister had the exact same accident there.

At least the firefighter/ems response time was seconds ;)

if the air bags deploy, its almost always a write off.....

new air bags and dash alone would probably run you 10k MSRP

not including the damage that made the bags deploy....

u can easily write off a 50k car just by hitting a curb hard ;)

gofastmerc
03-13-2006, 07:58 PM
Whatever.

I have changed hundreds of airbags. It takes more than that to write off a 50K car...
