Alright, I've finally decided to start a thread on my SRT-4. To share some pictures, information, and basically give the car a little exposure.

Curb Weight, Full Fuel Load: Approximately 2991 lbs.
Race Weight: Approximately 2800 lbs.
(Driver not included)
7.14 lbs / whp

Here's the SRT-4, with the "out of the box" dyno chart in the background.

This is the "stock" dyno chart. The car was one day old, had about 11KM on the odo as I headed straight for the dyno at Davenport after picking it up.

I like to call this the baseline...

I ordered the Mopar Stage 3 upgrade a couple months after I bought the car. It took about 3 months for it to arrive, and it was installed at Davenport Motors.

Here's the Stage 3 badging...

Here's a fancy little duotone of the Mopar Stage 3 turbocharger. This is what replaced the stock turbo after about 6 months.

Ok, so Stage 3 gets installed in June of 2005. It goes on to the dyno at Davenport and this is the result.

Please note: This is a bone-stock SRT-4 except for the Stage 3 package. As in, stock air box, stock intercooler, stock exhaust, stock plugs, etc.

;)

Dyno was done using DAB 3, in HOM with VP109.

When I went to pick up the SRT-4, I got the above posted dyno. I actually wasn't sure about it, so I brought the SRT-4 back to Davenport to have it dyno'd while I was there watching. So I could try specific settings, and see how it behaved. Here is the result of that dyno...

DAB 1, HOM
DAB 2, HOM

VP109

Charted against each other.

http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i141/photodump_2006/SRT4_SHARED/SRT4_Dyno_S3R_v2.jpg

I wish I had done a DAB 0 setting. Next year I will do a DAB 0, DAB 1, DAB 2 and DAB 3 run after one another and get the chart and post it up. Should be very interesting. Big difference in power from DAB 1 to DAB 2. Boost difference is 16 psi versus 21 psi.

So, off to do some drag racing. Here we have the SRT-4 with a set of M/T ET Streets.

The wheels are a set of Rota Sub-Zero's. About 12 lb. each.

I didn't take the SRT-4 out much to drag in 2005. Primarily because I was having fun with my Z. But, here are some times I managed to acquire in the SRT-4 in Calgary at Race City. This was on like the last night of the year, and I just went out to have some fun. Much to my surprise, I was running 12's. Sweet.

http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i141/photodump_2006/SRT4_SHARED/SRT4_12p657at109mph72dpi.jpg http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i141/photodump_2006/SRT4_SHARED/SRT4_12p761at109mph72dpi.jpg http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i141/photodump_2006/SRT4_SHARED/SRT4_12p802at110mph72dpi.jpg

Unfortunately, due to some set-up issues and also due to the fact that the car always disengaged HOM, the MPH and ET's are not as good as they could be. But it still shows the car clearly has potential.

I do have some small plans for the SRT-4 in 2006. Once I have my equipment installed, which hopefully I will have time to do when it warms up...I'll get it onto the Dyno and show the numbers.

See ya in 2006 at the strip.

This timeslip is the fastest timeslip so far for the 2006 year. In Calgary, the Density Altitude is regularly over 5000 feet. The elevation is approximately 3500 feet. (3350 at the track supposedly). It is very rare that the Density Altitude is even close to 3500 feet despite that being our elevation.

This run was done with a Density Altitude of approximatley 3526.

http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i141/photodump_2006/SRT4_SHARED/SRT4_ITLGO_Sig.jpg

Fuel was 2L of VP 103 mixed in with 5L of VP C16.

Track poorly prepped as usual IMO. Spinning through the top of 1st and into lower portion of 2nd gear.

Last time I was on the dyno, I didn't get pump numbers. So, I don't know what the actual difference is between then and now.

http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i141/photodump_2006/SRT4_SHARED/SRT4_S3R_Pump91_EHTBO2.jpg
Pump Fuel; 354whp/377wtq; Pig Rich.

http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i141/photodump_2006/SRT4_SHARED/SRT4_S3R_HOM3_EHTBO2.jpg
Race gas; 392whp/443wtq

Race gas; Differential between previous dyno run.

http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i141/photodump_2006/SRT4_SHARED/SRT4_S3R_HOM2NOS_EHTBO2.jpg
Race gas; Nitrous sprayed from bottle towards intake via removed fog lamp opening.

So, pretty much the new numbers are 392whp/443wtq.

Modifications from previous runs to these runs:

MPx Extrude Honed Intake Manifold
MPx 62mm Throttle Body
MaxFabb 3" O2 Housing

"Pump Fuel" = Superstore 91 Octane
"Race Gas" = 4L VP103 mixed with 2L VP C16.

The SRT-4 set the quickest pass in a FWD in Alberta on Friday. Previous quickest was an 11.84 ET by the Speedtech 600whp Civic and a Daytona Shelby Z which had an ET tie...

Record held for like one week...

Story: Slowest time was on the Final Elimination. I was expecting to lose, as the other competitor was running 11.55 fairly consistently. My only hope was to beat him at the tree, (success) and have a great run...failure. (I missed fourth and ran my slowest time) However, congrats to him. My best run of the day would not have beaten him with the run he had. I believe his run was the quickest he ran that day. (AFAIK)

This happened on July 12th, 2008. Massive failure and complete block destruction due to (I believe) a failed rod bolt, which caused the end cap to come off and then all hell broke loose. Car was still running (idling) after the failure when I stopped.

Here are some pictures from that wonderfully fabulous day.

Old block getting pulled out of the car in my garage.

Here is the old block, after it was removed from the SRT-4. It had exit holes on the back and front of the block. The parts that exited destroyed the alternator bracket (on the back) and the AC bracket (on the front).

A crowbar goes nicely through the motor.

http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i141/photodump_2006/SRT4_Boom/IMG_4911a-1.jpg
The hole is about 9 inches tall, all the way through the oil pan and then several inches up in to the block as well.

There is a small circular hole at the back of the block. No photo here. But it looks to me like this is where the wrist pin exited. The pin fits through the hole perfectly, so it seems logical.

This is a picture of the block, untouched, after the head was removed. I had bought a complete used longblock, but decided I wanted to disassemble the shortblock before I junked it.

The one piston was able to move freely after the rod broke, so the crank will have bashed it around until it pushed it up high enough that it could no longer hit it.

http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i141/photodump_2006/SRT4_Boom/IMG_4907A.jpg

When I took the rod caps off of the remaining 3 rods, everything looked in pristine condition. Bearings looked so good you'd want to use them again. Nothing was pounded.

So, basically just pulled off all the parts from my old block - brackets, power steering, ac, etc. Of course took off my intake manifold, exhaust manifold, downpipe, o2 and turbo. All that stuff got moved to the replacement block.

The replacement block came from a wrecker in Alberta. The motor was a 2.4L Turbo like the original, except it came out of a PT Cruiser. Sold the stock turbo, exhaust manifold, fuel rail and injectors...

Here is the engine/tranny getting put back in to the car - in my garage.

http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i141/photodump_2006/SRT4_Boom/IMG_4939A.jpg

Also bought a new clutch, same as the one that was in the car before - it was looking quite worn and I figured this was a good time to do it.

Clutchmasters FX400 4-puck clutch. This thing took an absolute beating and never slipped. Beautiful clutch and I am hopeful to get the same kind of performance out of the new one.

Took the car out to the Drag Strip, only because I hadn't really dragged the car hard since replacing the motor. I wanted to make sure everything was OK, and that High Octane Mode worked good. :poosie:

I didn't go out to any Secret Street events in Calgary this year, so this was my first time out.

First pass was used just as a shake down to set tire pressures, etc. Had a little mishap with gears and it was not perfect.

Second pass was good, did not WOT shift 1-2.

Third pass just adjusted the tire pressure a little bit lower and nailed my WOT's 1-2, 2-3 and 3-4 all wonderful. Very clean pass. The car pulled hard all the way and I believe that an 11.79 is the quickest I have ever run at Race City in Calgary on turbo only. So, the new motor works.

Here are the slips.

So near the end of Summer 2011, I replaced the transmission. The transmission that was in the car works just fine on the street. Under normal driving conditions, it works and no one would really notice any problems. However, when under extreme load and WOT shifting, it would never ever make the 2 to 3 shift. I blame worn synchros from all the gear slamming.

So in went another transmission with just 40k on it. This transmission works great, and even though I don't race the car any more, I'm happy knowing I could!

At this same time, I threw in a Southbend Stage 5 Clutch. The combo works very well. In October of 2011, I parked the Dodge for the Winter.
