SLK owners help

ive been looking around for a good 2 seater car and im looking at ither an 2000-2002 SLK or S2000 or MAYBE a Z4

anyway i was woundering what the main differnces between the differnt SLK models are, and what are some good/bad things about the car?

Stay away from the SLK230s. Just no fun. I'd recommend either the 320 (especially with the stick) or the 32 AMG (auto only).

Why not a Boxster?

1998 SLK 230 introduced.
2001 SLK facelift. Color matching skirts, nicer bumpers, better electric seats, tiptronic auto transmission. SLK 320 introduced.
2002 SLK 32 AMG introduced
2004 SLK final year.

SLK 230, fun car. Sounds like a truck though.
SLK 320 EXACT same speed as SLK 230, sounds 1000x nicer. Best sounding benz engine IMO. Sounds like a BMW.
SLK 32. Fast. Lots of fun. Get lots of tickets.

The manual transmissions blow. Go for the Auto.

Overall a fairly reliable car. AMG's seem to be more problematic. Main problems:

- Rear lights assembly dying from corrosion. There's a recall on this now with new rear lights that don't die and need replacement every 4 months.

- Peeling interior. scratches easy.

- supercharger water pump failure (SLK32 only)

I wouldn't "stay away" from 230's...i've driven both 230 and 320's pretty extensively and have been happy with both..the only thing I can think of that sucks about the 230 is the sound of it...
