HeyGuys,
Have any of you gone to the Stampede yet? Does anyone want to go?

I've been going almost everyday except for Saturday. Won myself a little purple hippo and a snake from that fishing game where you pick up those little red discs. Also been gambling a bit at the COLOR game. Man, I love that game! Pays 4 to1! And carnival food is sooo good!

SCAM-pede sucks:thumbsdow

I've lived here in Calgary ALL MY LIFE and I've also worked at the stampede and have seen the lowest forms of human garbage there, I have not been to it in 7 years and don't plan on going back anytime soon. It's the same thing every year, year after year and prices are going up.

"It's a tourist trap, run by low-life crap, that put Calgary on the map" :D

The only thing I still enjoy are the little donuts (get someone to bring me some), the stampede breakfasts/lunches and the FIREWORKS!!:thumbsup:

Yeah, the Stampede is the same old BS :bullshit:, But for some reason I always end up going 2 or 3 times every year. It's kind of the kickoff of summer for me, It always feels like summer when the Stampede comes to town!

I cant believe all the 15 year old trashy Brittany-wannabe's I saw there this year!!

Yes, I admit it's not the most exciting place but there's not much to do in Calgary. And there's lots of little gangster punks there too!

Yea, Stampede gets expensive. Not only do you have to pay for admission but parking, gambling, playing games, and overpriced carnival food. Does anyone like to go on rides? My friend really wants to try that one where they take you really high and drop you onto a net for $35/person.

I'm happy I got the stuffed animals I want...but somebody really needs to win me one from a skill game! ;)

The dice are weighted, so it's not even close to a fair/true 1/13 probability and they often switch between different dice w/ different weights, they usually scan the placement of bets before choosing an appropriate dice to use. I hear the cost has gone up (surprise!) from $1 to $2 for a small and $4 for a large prize.

I might go try some costco or Calgary Zoo donuts....

Actually the b-day game is still 1$ for small or 2$ for large... (or two small for a large)... I won a big blue bear there for my friend and then a little pig teddy bear at the water game.. i only spent about 15$ on games, but had fun... Every on i was with was giveing me the beads from loosing, i had about 20 mardigras beads and a really huge foam cowboy hat... i looked :bigpimp: (j/K)..

PS.. DO NOT DRINK BEER THERE.. i spent 6.25 for RR...:bullshit:

I don't agree that the dice is weighted, and they do not switch dice at all for the most part. Once the dice is thrown for a game, it is picked up and given to a player to throw. You're right that it isn't 1/13th chance, because it is actually 1/14th (12 months + New Years & Christmas).

Yeah, it is $4 at once of the booths, and $2 at a booth with crappier prizes.

Did any of you see Amanda Marshall perform when she was here? I think it was on Sunday.

I went there tonight...yes...AGAIn. Wanted to watch Yan Can Cook but I missed all the shows. I also walked around the Indian Village section but all the teepees were closed. I guess it gets more boring the 5th time there! Won 2 of the dinkiest animals ever...they're extra extra small...but very cute.

Yes, I went again today and people were asking as much as $20 parking...ah I love bargaining with the parking people! One guy even recognized me from the previous day and I asked him how much parking was and he said "you didn't wanna pay $15 yesterday so why would you pay it today?". That is cocky but true. Anyways, I've only been paying $10 for parking max but I guess it adds up when you go there like 5 times. As well, I almost got hit by a golf cart...but a pedestrian yelled at the golf cart driver for me so no road rage!!

I thought I saw you on the grounds but you were walking the other way among the crowds of people.

I just went today and I can't see the fun for more than 1 day. What else is there to do? Already went on all the rides I wanted (scored 2 free pass's when an older lady said her kids had had enough).

No kidding. I think I waited 40minutes the first time I went, 30 the second(and that was at 1am!)

The log ride is pretty easy to get on at that time though. Having the unlimited use card was sweet for that, helped us cool down cause it was so bloody hot out.

Safeway had the all-day ride passes for $20... dunno if they have em any more now that the stampede is here. It'd be worth it to check, especially if you do a lot of rides.

From the 5 days that I have gone to the Stampede, I won about close to 200 dollars from the Color Game, 50 dollars from the Under/Over Game, and about 3-4 big stuffed animals from the Birthday game along with smaller sized stuffed animals.

I lost about 60 dollars playing black jack in the Casino. Obviously luck wasn't on my side last night. It was either I was busting or I pushed the dealer. Fock, I could never get any higher than 30 dollars, it sucks.

My niece is happy though, she has all these stuffed animals in the house. If only she knew what they were! (She's a little bit more than a month old).

It's funny cause the over/under and color game was $1 minimum bet on Sneak-a-Peek day but the minumum was changed to $5 on the last day of stampede. As well, all the prices of the games went up to $5 such as the water game.
